Well, while on my little path to 100% completion, obviously I have to do the Time Trials (and I still have the @#$%&* Complex String!)... anyway, I was having some trouble with the Tahiti Maze TT; I consistently ran laps that were off by about 0.5 second.

I had been trying for weeks, so in disgust, I decided to try it with an auto (now those of you who know me well know that I am a big advocate of manual trannies, but here comes the weird part)... the first lap I tried with the auto, I actually got 1st place! Quite strange, because under normal circumstances, I put in faster times when not using a slushbox... but for some reason, the auto allowed me to shatter the time by about 1 second. My theory is that because I didn't have to concentrate on what gear I was in, I was able to concentrate more on swinging my rear end through the hairpins effectively...

Has anybody else experienced this? (BTW: This does not mean that I will revert back to slushboxes... I'm still a manny tranny fan!) :p

I almost always use the manual trans., too, but it can be difficult to hear the best time to switch gears on the rally courses. At least for me. That's about the only time I'll switch to auto.

Using an auto make you concentrate more on the track

I sometimes use Auto in 2P mode, as i can't hear my car over the other one.

i use auto on license tests, rediculously difficult time trials, and long-haul races i know i'll win anyway.

I found turning off Race Background Music off helps? :note:
