In Central Otago (one of the hottest places in New Zealand all year round - and yes, i got sunburnt). :P

I went with three other members of a Nissan Skyline car club i'm a member of (they went in a R32 GTS-t and i went in Mum's Mazda MS-6 (i also found out that a 160 hp Mazda cannot keep up with a 220 hp+ turbo Skyline!!). I'm bringing the GTS-4 next time. :lol:

Anywho. There was quite a few awesome cars racing plus one car in particular i had never seen in real-life before;

Couldn't believe how small it was! It was doing low 15 second passes all day (beating V8 Holdens too. :sly:

The motorbikes were the best on this airport runway however with the quickest (and best time of the day) going to a black Suzuki or something with a 0:10.3xx. The big dragster did not compete after problems just as it had done the tire warming burnout. Its best time is an 0:08.4xx i think - it was insanely loud too!

Fastest car however belonged to another member of the Skyline car club i'm in with this monster;

In his second run with this 550 hp R32 GT-R he beat their personal best time by getting a 0:12.07x. On the last run however (vs. a turbo V8 RX-7 which is very quick) the big NoS bottle in the boot got turned on (works by accelerator pressure or something) and he set the fastest time of the day for a car with an 0:11.5xx.

And it sounds absolutely beautiful of course. :D
The other (stock standard) R32 GT-R's best time was a 13.7xx i think. Not that quick but he was having problems with the clutch or something.

Lot's of Ford, Holden, Chevy etc V8's naturally although i think the Japanese machines got the faster times.

Was my first time at a drag race meeting and i'm DEFINATELY going to another one. :)

Wow nice pics man and I love that elise!

Well it was at a pretty high altitude and there were only about 74 cars entered (mostly just V8's and boy racer Civics etc). Plus the runway was very coarse (what we call 'volcanic rock') which meant grip levels were not high.

With a sea level altitude and asphalt surface the GT-R could have done a 10 second 1/4 mile. Bearing in mind it is basically stock...

Anywho here is the class results for all compeditors;
fastest 6....... Black/Orange GT-R
fastest 4wd....... Black/Orange GT-R
fastest turbo........ Black/Orange GT-R
fastest comp/pro class......... Black/Orange GT-R
fastest car overall.................. Black/Orange GT-R
bigest smile on face........ Black/Orange GT-R owner

second all of the above mikes nuts rx7 (the 80's red one with the bodywork)

turbo shop team 1&2 in every class entered and over all (excluding that stupid fast ZZR1200 Kawisaki ridden with balls of steel[10.3xx])

11.522@124mph std rb26 with a little bit of nos
12.007 without a little bit of nos

10's basicly stock, yea right, i dont care if the tracks just like reg paved street a car with all wheel drive is ganna get off the line with almost no problem

:dunce:

74 Cars!!!! thats alot.

that basicly means i could put a hurting on 98% of them on ET streets and pump gas on 12 psi in my camaro.

Yesh my friends monte carlo runs 11.00, daily driver nitrous small block 355 on used parts.

and the altitude is supposed to be factored in on the ET sheet. depending on the altitude they take away time.
so the times are right. Just cars over their arent that quick no offense.

So? There is a FWD civic hatchback around here that runs 8.6@170mph. Even on ET streets running with pump gas would run at least 10s.

This is what car classes are for.

There were no ET sheets. It was a very basic timing system and all times were announced over the speakers as there were no LED displays.

The grip surface as i said was very low and even R32 GT-R's which normally do low 13's were doing mid 15's...

And i don't really believe that the black and orange GT-R was basically stock either. He was explaining about it about the same time the big dragster was revving the engine, and despite being quite a wee way away i still couldn't hear what the guy was saying because of the loudness of the dragster. :/

And quite a few of the cars were not running that well. The V8 RX-7 did a best time of about 11.8xx when it's alltime best is about a 10.5xx. The black & orange GT-R also had a slipping clutch (whatever that means) so i don't think his times were as good as they could have been. It is a monster machine though and has such an awesome sound (quite loud too).

The fastest R32 GT-R in this country has a best ET of 08.40x (260km/h - 162mph). Second best is about 08.55x (267km/h - 166mph) with the use of Nitrous.
