Californian Raptor!

Ok Gentlemen, welcome to the 13th race of the Weekly Endurance Series.
As promised, I have this thread up early. So I don’t have to think of anything else tomorrow.
It’s a long standing favourite track matched with a great car, that is underused in my opinion.
The Track is Laguna Seca, and the car is the Australian 2000 Ford Falcon XR8 Race Car.
So without further ado!

Settings!

Mode : ARCADE
Race type : SINGLE RACE
Location: WORLD COURSES/ LAGUNA SECA RACEWAY (FORWARDS)
Car: AUSTRALIA / FORD / 2000 FORD FALCON XR8 RACE CAR

Initial Settings
Transmission : Manual/Auto - Your choice
Aids : NONE
Tyres : RACING MEDIUMS
A.I. : +10

Now go into the options screen, and adjust the settings in ARCADE to the following:

Number of Laps : 30
Tyre Wear : STRONG
Driving Aids : NONE
Penalty : SPEED LIMITER
Time Limit : NONE

Exit, and now go into the quick tune-up section, and change the settings to the following:

Power : -10% @ 539Hp
Weight: -10% @ 1215kg
Top Speed : Your Choice
Driving Aids : NONE
Transmission : Your Choice
Tyre Type : RACING
Front Tyres : SOFTS OR MEDIUMS ONLY
Rear Tyres : SOFTS OR MEDIUMS ONLY
You will now be set up for the race, there is no qualifying to do, just the race!

DEADLINE :
numberoneaq1bvm2.gif

Midnight GMT SUNDAY night, MARCH 10th

RULES:

You must use the settings laid out above at all times.
You must try to keep 2 wheels on the track at all times.
An occasional off is to be expected, but use your judgement and morals to decide if you have gained from it or not. If you have gained, or feel that you have taken an advantage from the off, then please bin the race and re-start.
A.I. contact is allowed, but NO penalties are allowed.
Slight bumps into walls/barriers that DO NOT pull a penalty are allowed.
All podium times will be verified by the posting of either a replay or a photo of the screen showing your final time AFTER the deadline is past.
Any suspicious times will be investigated by either myself or where appropriate an NTSC user of my choice.
All decisions of the Administrator (me) are final, any cheating of any kind what so ever, will be dealt with in the appropriate manor.
You may discuss any splits or individual lap times, just not your final times.

Times should be sent to myself (Tyre King) via PM by the above deadline, as marked by the GTPlanet PM system time stamp.
Replays and screen shots should be posted in this thread after that time has passed, if asked for by myself or just if you want to.

Time sending format:

Name :
Total Race time:
Race Fastest lap:
Pitting strategy : Please be specific!

Sorry guys, but these results are gonna be down & dirty.

VEXD 42'30.704 & 1'17.962 = 13pts (1st & 1st)
RACECAR 42'52.866 & 1'19.428 = 10pts (2nd & 3rd)
Delfino 42'58.905 & 1'19.406 = 10pts (3rd & 2nd)
ERacer 44'06.327 & 1'23.080 = 7pts (4th)

Well done to VEXD for a clean sweep of 1st's, and congrat's to RACECAR & Delfino for sharing the other two podium spots (literally)

I'll update the leaderboard in the morrow.

Neil

I've tried to get this thing into LMS and SuperGT, but its just too darn heavy. A great car to run though, I might have to try this one. 30 laps doesn't seem so bad. :)

Never raced the XR8 in arcade mode before .. and it sure does handle much much better .

Great timing too .. this weekend is the 2nd round of the Aussie Super V8's .. at my home track {about 25 minutes drive away} attending both days camera attached ..... rooting for JAMES COURTNEY who is driving a Ford .

Have limited time to run at Laguna , which is not on the list of favourite tracks , so i cant see this Aussie making good use of the Aussie XR8 ..... will have fun trying though :)

Bah!

AI !

👎:grumpy:

I dont like it.
They get in the way, they take two laps to pass, they try to squeeze you off and ram you whenever they can, theyre blind, theyre idiots, they shouldnt have racing licenses.

They make you drive conservatively too, and they wind you up, and once you're past them, you can relax, and settle down into 6 laps..... then... you pit.... and they dont...

I cant see me having too much patience with this one, though it does make a very good challenge.

Good luck to all
oh, and 1'19.xx for lap times.
:irked:👍

Feeling energised from my recent ecouraging run at Eiger, I'm gonna do this. The Falcon feels different from GT3, but it is much easier to race in Arcade. And on one of my favorite tracks 👍

Ok dad, so which is it?

Monday the 10th?
Or
Sunday the 9th?

:irked:👍

Right ive submitted.

I sat down this afternoon, after a two-day drinking session which hasnt improved the lines round my eyes at all, and ran this race only once, with no strategy for pitting, or tyres or anything, but i ended up having the scrappiest race ever, and i fought with AI on laps 1 and 2, got past them all, then fought them again when i came out of the pits, then repeated this problem right through the entire race, until i had completed 30 laps.

I used mediums, and then softs at the end to secure a faster lap when i'd run the course 25 times, as i knew which way it went by then. :sly:

I managed 1'21's for most of the race, and some 1'20's and i found that there were two laps after pitting where the car was useless on the new tyres.
You get a horrible out-lap, where theyre blue, then the fronts go green, but the bax retain a blueish tinge, and theyre still crap, then by the third lap, they start to work, but not entirely well, then they even out, and you can start to improve your times, then two laps later, theyre orange again.:ouch:

I didnt refuel either, at all, and i used 270 Top speed as a good balance between driveability, and acceleration.

Good luck to anyone else trying to get past those annoying GT cars who believe it is their god-given right to pwn the track and squeeze you off it at any given moment, depending on whether they see fit. 👎:grumpy:

I'd like to race this round, but it seems I don't have the car in my garage.:( Maybe another time. ;)

And for you drivers that are also V8 Supercars fans, do you think a round at Laguna Seca is a possibility since you have raced on this track? :D

Cant remember what the top speed was but set it to use 5th gear only . 3 stints on RS/RM's 2 stints on RS/RS's .

Top lap in the 1.19's others in the 1.20-1.22's , except for the last lap on RS's .. ran bright red = slow lap but kept it on the black stuff .

VEXD .. If you have too much trouble in the opening laps getting past A1 .. try using the RS tyres in your 1st stint .

Was going to give this an extension, purely so I could race it sometime soon. But What the hey?

Results and next thread up some time tomoz, too tired to do it now! Sorry guys!
(Before last night, 7 hrs sleep in 72, after last night, 13 in 96)

I am confused. The date says "Sunday, march 10th" but on my calender, today is sunday the 9th.

Yeah,Yeah!

The deadline is always SUNDAY night @ midnight!

I admit, I have been distracted. And didn't read the calender right!
Take me outside and shot me! LOL

Come on guys, gimme a break will ya?:indiff:

If anyone wants an extension, tell me now and I'll do it, for the sake of harmony. AND, I'll let anyone who wants to re-submit do so too!

But you have to let me know ASAP! OK?

I'm sorry. I just came across it today and thought "wait a minute, Am I reading this correctly?" I'm gonna do my times in have them in by 5:00 tomarrow so I'm not gonna ask for an extention now that I'm clear on the date.

errr...... deadline was 11 hours ago?

Welcome to parenthood Neil, im sure it'll get better and you'll end up having more sleep in the long run, but for now, this is the really good part, where you lose most of your hair.

Del, i only had time to run this once, and so thats all i did.
Strategy and tyres didnt come into it at all, though i am surprised if you put softs on the front and mediums on the back, id have found the car more responsive with the compounds on the other way around, but what do i know.

I too had red tyres for a last lap, and it ended up being a 1'24 :ouch:

Anyway, like i said, good luck
:irked:👍

Results will be up before midnight tonight!

Got stuff to do till then, but I have put up the new thread for week 14!👍

Because i live on the 'underside' of the earth .. RS/RM is rear/front :) sorry for the confusion

Ahhh right.

yer flamin galarrr.

got me knickers all twisted yer did

:irked:👍

Running softs on the front mediums rear would have been insane

ps .. PD tyre wear on the XR8 is totally incorrect .. in real life the Aussie V8's chew the rears long before the front .

Where's the results then?

I bet you cant see straight to type with all those painkillers....

Sorry to hear about your knee Neil.

Its all go at your house lately....

:irked:👍

I dont know how Neils fits everything in .. wouldnt mind having a beer with him though .. after a day at a race track .. DTM's or Superbikes .

Down and dirty results are at the bottom of the 1st post guys!

Sorry for the delay.

Neil

Well, I'll be darned. All that complaining VEXD was doing and he wins. And I can't believe how much off the pace I was to first, but that won't happen again :trouble:

What?
i won?

hang on i'll have a look.....

:irked:👍

Oh yeah!
That was lucky, considering i only ran once, and had such a terrible few laps with the AI and the tyre choice.
I seriously considered running again, after Del pointed out i should use softs at first, to get past the AI quicker, but in the end, i just dont have that much time.

Well done everyone else then, and its a shame Tyre King hasnt submitted, i mean, he's only had a kid, what kind of lame excuse is that?

Bring on this nurb race then, im going to have a blast on that one, i may even run it in a bit...
