I was just inspired by the UK Karting thread, and I would like to do an interest check to see if anyone would be interested in a West Coast Canada/Washington version of this event. I've seen that we have a number of members from Vancouver, Victoria, and Northwest Washington.

I think that the F440 facility near the Tsawassen ferry terminal would be the best location for a meet, due to their variety of karts and decent rates, as posted below:

Package A: The Jacques Villeneuve Racing Package

$50.00 per person in reg. karts

45 Min Total Time

Package C: The Driver Development Package

$45.00 per person in club karts
$35.00 per person in reg. karts

10 Min Heat Qualifier – (Random Grid) - For Points
10 Min Heat Qualifier – (Inverted Grid) - For Points
10 Min Final Race - For Points

30 Min Total Time

For those that don't know, there are (to my understanding) three classes of carts to race: F440's, which are very fast, full bodied karts powered by rotax engines (80-90KPH), club carts (upgraded, lighter version of regular carts, 60KPH), and regular karts. You've got to be 19 to race in F440's, so it puts those carts out of possibility for me, as I will be 18 in a couple weeks.

Has anyone been to this facility? Are there any better facilities on the lower mainland?

I would like to hold this event sometime in late June (past the 20th), or during July sometime.

So... Who's interested??

PS - The site is http://www.f440.com/index.php
Here's another possiblility: http://www.tbcir.ca/#null

I'd certainly be interested. Whether I could actually do it or not is a different story, but I'd definately like to.

I hope to do it in late June, as I start fulltime work in July.
Edit - Anyone know other GTP members in the area? PM them the link to this thread.

we could maybe go seattle... more people would probably show up... take the ferry to vancouver then drive down... if there are any karting tracks down there.

how many people are over in vancouver?

I'm not sure exactly how many people are in Vancouver. It occurs to me that there are around 15-20 people, if not more, from the lower mainland/the island/northwest washington.

I proposed the F440 track because of a cheaper cost for myself (Taking a car on the ferry basically doubles my cost), as you can walk-on to the ferry and then take a cab to the track.

I'm waiting for more people to express interest before I decide the venue.

Edit - Emohawk, Grandprix, Mr. Toad, [possibly antihero], [possibly the_undertaker89] live in the mainland, or so I believe.

Please, if you guys know of any more people, then tell me who.

Yeah Slicks, Im from Surrey. I'm interested but I first have to check with my parents, etc. and also be able to pay for it. It's kinda expensive but I'm definitely considering it.

sounds fun....i would love to join if you guys dont mind to have a newbie around....i prefer TBC though cuz its closer to my home (i live in richmond hehe)...

and late june is fine to me...saturday is the best

Count me in! it's about a 20 minute drive from where I work, and about an hour from home.

Just let me know when it's happening and I'll try to make the time.

And thanks for the 'heads up' PM, Slicks.

Like I said earlier, later june or the start of July - whichever works best for the most people.
Has anyone been to one or both of the tracks?

So, everyone give a date/time range, and I'll try and make some sort of tenative date.

June 22th as well as 28th as well as 30th and maybe some more unspecified dates aren't available - I've got Provincial Exams for English 10 and Math 10 as well as picking up report cards.

June 23, 25, 29, and July 2 appear to be the best days for me. Every day up to that is either grad/school/work, 22nd is my birthday, 24th is work, 26th is work, 27th I have dinner plans, and the rest of the days are work. After about July 2nd, I'll have family coming through town and then I may be going away for a while. After that I plan to start full time work.

hmmm...23th sounds ok to me..but i will be in school until about 5...so it needs to be at night....i cant go to tawassen as well if its on that day....

ok when's good for you guys?

Right. Sorry for the thread neglect - I've been superbusy.
I'm wanting a bit of input...
The F440 track is the obvious choice for me & jamaican. However, I wanted to know if anyone has been to either track. If not, then F440 it is. If so, then I'll get input and make a descision.

June 24 is also Okay with me... I got my schedule for work and I'm not on that day.

I would like to throw the June 24/25 weekend out there as the best date for myself. Any objections?

well i have been to the richmond one for a couple of times....its indoor so the track is obviously smaller.....their cart is pretty fast...to my prediction it can go up to about 60-70km/h.....but the performance variability between the cars is noticable...especially the tires...some of them have good tires...some have not-so-good ones.....i havent been to the F440 one so i cant really say if either one is better....i prefer richmond just because looking at you people's availability...i probably can only go to the one that is closer to my home....which is the richmond one....but no matter which track you will choose.,...i will try my best to show up

OK. Is the Richmond one a polished cement floor (It's fun)?

Also, how is the 24th/25th?

as i remember at least one hairpin is

i am not sure about the straights/entire tracks though

24 afternoon sounds pretty good...what time are you planning to go?

No definite plans, yet.
However, the Richmond one is sounding ever better. For the difference in time to get there (What, mabye a half hour?), it may well be worth it.
Taking a look at their site, I think our venue has just changed. Richmond it is.
www.tbcir.ca .
They open at 11am, so that will be the earliest meet time possible. $20 for the first race, $10 for each additional one (Better rates than F440, to say the least). They've also got arcade games, pool, etc. to blow off time with.
