Bit gutted about this, I know 50 tracks is still a lot, but we were told previously there would be 100.

Also concerned whether the game will be as big as promised. We know it will be bigger than GT3 in volume of cars, but they are saying 200 championship races and GT3 had over 350 altogether, which indicates it will actually be smaller on the number of champsionship races.

Unless they were meaning Championship events rather than total number of races?

Take 50 tracks and add their reverse versions. 100 tracks is a very general number so you will never know but from the amount of time this game is taking to develop and the recent displays at e3 2004 you can honestly see how much effort and thought is being put into the game.

Be patient and don't compare anything to GT4 because you wont be able to, its a whole new genre.

Told by unreliable sources maybe. If you count reverse direction it'll be more like 100. I've never actually believed that the game include 100 orginal tracks.

That is one off of the list :rolleyes:
We were talking in general terms. Of course there are going to be non-reverse tracks like Cote D'Azur and Laguna Seca like in GT3. No doubt the same principles will be applied here with the real tracks.

Estimates are always fun.

True :)

It would be nice to go reverse on the real-life tracks though :D

The only track I wouldn't be so keen on backwards, Laguna Seca for obvious reasons related to the corkscrew :irked:

All I can say the more tracks and/or variations the better!

Imagine drifting up that corkscrew :eek:

Anyways, with Nurburgring in GT4, I think 50 courses will be fine with me :D

We actually have done some iLink races on Laguna reverse. :D It's pretty good, as is Monaco reverse. I hope they allow it. Nurburgring reverse is also a must ... :P I think they may do that, as it's unique and they did it with Complex String too.

120% sure that no real-life track will go in reverse.

Estimate like up to 12 real-life tracks (Laguna, Monaco, Nurb, Nurb GP, Tsukuba, Fuji..) few new tracks with reverse, estimate like 25 tracks from previuos GT games with reverse (about 50 tracks), few Gymkahana (I don't know to spell it excatly) polygons, few test-tracks, about 10 rally tracks (also in reverse) and we're very close to an 100 mark. Count in PhotoMode locations and that is more-less it.

I wonder if we'll get to see Grindelwald and Red Rock Valley come back. Hehehe, it'd be fun to have a race at Grindelwald including the best of Germany, and to cruise on that long bank at Red Rock Valley in an open-top. Sigh, what a feeling...

The 200 championship races thing is ultra vague, as is the number of courses really, we won't know until we have the real thing in our consoles in November.

I think this is about right.

Hopefully they don't mean 200 races, divided into certain championships. With the passion and anxiety I have for GT4, I'd probably beat that in a weekend. However, considering the amount of different cars and categories, you could maybe wonder if it means 200 championships with a number of races in them.

Also take note of the rain courses and rally tracks that are rarely mentioned lately.

1st off, the number of tracks has always been 50+, the number 100 was including reverse variations.

The number of cars is over 600 because KY stated "GT4 will have more cars than any previouse GT game" as many will know is a comment I've reffered to many a time :D .

And finaly othe comment "over 200 championship races" is reffering to the number of events, GT3 had around 100.

I hope this removes your worries that GT4 will not deliver the goods.

Who has worries about that?
Always been like this, first one to try console second to beat all!!!!

PS1 GT1->GT2

PS2 GT3->GT4 Will rule all!!!!

I cant see the Gymkhana tracks being included, also KY said he wants a 50/50 split between real and fictional tracks so your looking at 34 real tracks and 34 fictional tracsk which can be raced forward or revers making 68 and a total of 102 which is just an educated guess like Amars and we could both be wrong.

Can I can correct that:

PS1 GT1->GT2 = Legends

PS2 GT3->GT4 = Rulers

PS3 GT5->GT6 = Conquerers

:D :lol:

It is an educated guess, KY used the same term for GT3's events, he called each one a championship race back when we were all waiting for GT3 and I would bet my house that he doesn't mean 200 individual races this time round either.

Ofcourse you can and did a really good job with it to!!!

I'll take that bet and God willing, your house. Wait you live in Manchester... Bah, too damn cold.

Gran Turismo 4 will officially have 011001010110111001101111011101010110011101101000 tracks. 8 bit ASCII, have fun.

In a way, I'm not surprised. But think about this. Different tracks can mean:

1.) an original track plus many variations
2.) " " " and its reverse deal
3.) you all didn't forget about rally races, have you?
4.) tracks like Complex String and Motor Sports Land- tracks that most likely won't be available to race on competitively, much less normal and reverse.

But to me, it can still be 100 TECHNICALLY. It can be even MORE than 100 total. Only thing is, we'll be looking at all sorts of tracks. Even if it means we get the crash-happy, slow-down-like-hell V8 Supercar track at Canberra, there will be all sorts of tracks. So fear not, friends.

translated (my ascii) = 'that is a matter of opinion, but i hope your right'

haha. I like that the Australians are the only ones bored enough to mess with stuff like that. Looks like you had an exciting Saturday too then.
