This might sound stupid, but I´ve been playing the game for a couple of days, and I still don´t see the point on buying/getting gift cars since I just can´t use them anywhere except the lobby rooms.
Am I missing something? Where else can your owned cars be used?
Thanks!

I actually agree, but it depends on what you enjoy about the game. I like driving the GT4 and RSR online against real people, so I have absolutely no use for anything else.

But some people enjoy other aspects of the game like photography, collecting, customizing liveries and such.

To be fair there isn't much point at all.

The game lacks the past appeal of owning and collecting cars in previous GT games. There is no Ferrari championship for me to buy one for, nor is there a kick ass hard to get Ferrari prize car waiting for me at the end of it.

A lack of achievement and reward, lack of progression towards an end goal. Typical of online only games.

Let´s hope the update gets better on that matter! I´ll wait till then to buy any car at all.

In Arcade you can chose a car from your own garage. In Sport Mode, sometimes you can led a car but others you can take your own.

I, for example, bought 2 or 3 of the same car just to have them with different liveries. :)
Thanks for your answers, I´ll give that a shot!

For me, it became a collecting thing as something to do in previous versions.

However, I like the fantasy of driving ‘real’ cars I will never drive in real life.

If GT League is anything like past GT career modes, you will need to have a wide variety of cars to complete it.

The next update will give you enough reason to justify the ownership of cars if it hasn't already.

Agreed. This "games as service" crap that's become the new trend is incredibly disappointing. Developers don't care about single player experience anymore because it doesn't rake in all the monies for the publisher. Gaming has become a sad state as of late.

The new update content to be released in December would most likely require owned vehicles - like old GT games - but they are also useful for tuning and modifications as you can save settings sheets and also increase power/ decrease weight.

While I only play online in sport or lobbies in a couple of cars, as soon as I get gifted a car I go into VR mode and check it out. Some of the GR1 GRX cars have pretty scary cockpits to sit in, It's interesting seeing the view they have of the road and whats around them.

Yeah I think I’ve spent more time tinkering with my cars in GT Sport than any other GT. Nobody can argue that the graphics, the look of the cars, the accuracy, details, the lighting, all the visuals are not a huge part of the game.

So most people definitely care about owning cars in GT Sport because I see the vast majority of grids with custom livery’s.

Livery creator is one of m favorite things in the game. I can spend hours in there, and not even do anything. Its a fantastic way to relax after a stressful day.
