What about wagering?

So I thought maybe a good idea would be everyone gives an equal amount, say 2000 for one race. Then if there were 16 drivers heres what everyone would get:
1= 9000
2= 6000
3= 5000
4= 4000
5= 3000
6= 2000
7= 1500
8= 750
9= 500
10= 250
11 and over= 0

Thoughts? It would hurt people that thought it was funny do drive backwards and discourage people from exiting after crashing as they have credits on the line. I think it could work.
 
I love the idea, but I am curious as to how you make sure that everyone pays up.
 
But it can't be done, so I wouldn't worry about it.
