what angle for dfgt pedals

hey,

getting my dfgt tommorrow , so tonight i will spend a few hours building some sort of wheelstand.

only have no experience in racing with a wheel so the question is:

should the pedals be on a small slope or just flat on the floor?
 
Flat on the floor is fine; but if your sitting position is almost lying down (like in an F1 car) then it could be nice to but them in a sleightly upright position..

Hope you like the wheel man! (i wish i had bought another one myself!)

And search the forum for mods for the brake pedal or practice on a track and watch the brake indicator on the HUD and learn where 66% braking is
 
I have mine set at a 45 degree angle. I built a wheel/pedal stand fashioned from a metal guitar stand frame and some clever woodwork. Sitting position on a sofa chair is like that of an f1 car/lotus 7. Best bit is that because it was a guitar stand originally, it folds away quite nicely. Keeps my other half happy.

I sit on the couch to play and I will give you the dimensions of the stand that I made. I made this stand in about an hour and it works great.

Raw Materials:
1x 2x4 (8ft)
1x 2x2 (8ft)
1x 1x4 (4ft)
1x 16x19 plywood (1/4" thick)

Cut Pieces:
1x 16" x 19" plywood (1/4" thick)
2x 2x4 (23" long)
1x 1x4 (19" long)
2x 2x2 (25" long)
1x 2x2 (19" long)
1x 2x2 (16" long)
4x gripper feet

Secure with 2" and 1" wood screws as appropriate.

See the attached diagram for assembly.

Go with a slight incline if your building a stand you may as well I think it feels better having my g25 pedals on a slight tilt and floor mounted instead of inverted.
I don't know why people go for inverted pedals floor mounting feels so much better.
 
building ATM just encountering 1 problem ......

my drill battery is empty :ouch: and its so old that ater 1 hour charging i can do 1 screw.:sick:
 
Well here is a pic of my pedals on the Playseat Evo. As you can see they are pretty much vertical. Not the least bit uncomfortable.

finished making it, got wheel today, decided to putt pedals flat on "floor",

Soften up the rear suspension along with the dampers and roll bar. That's what I did with my NSX and it helped a ton.
 
I have mine at about a 30 degree incline rasied about 4 inches in the front inclined upwards toward the back. I use an adjustable office chair that reclines somewhat. Overall is not bad but still not quite right and will cause some discomfort in my legs after long periods of racing.

I build a different mount for my fanatec pedals which is more comfortable but am waiting for a new set of pedals now so I am back to the DFGT.

I would suggest rigging somethign up that you can adjust and run some races in different positions until you find one that feels good to you and then make it solid. I used some all thread and L angle for my template which allowed me to raise and lower the front and back seperately by turning the nuts on the all thread. Once it was where I wanted it I then built a plaform out of wood and mounted the pedals to it.
 
I use my pedals flat on the carpeted floor, and I've always been fine with it. If you're going to make a stand, that's awesome, but I've just used whatever odd and and furniture I've had around, mostly because the significant other would kill me if I had more video game paraphernalia in our tiny 2 bedroom apartment (the DFGT is enough to drive her nuts if I leave it out).

I just made mine yesterday off of this same idea. I however changed a few things.. Instead of using a 1x4 for the wheel to clamp on, I used a 1x8 so the back of my dfgt is resting on the wood. I also made the base out of 5/8" plywood, 2'x2' because it fit me better using a computer chair . Another thing I did was instead of having the 2x2 side supports on the outside of the 2x4's I used a mitersaw and cut angles so the 2x2's fit flush with the 2x4's at an angle. Overall it costs me 10.25 for the wood, i had screws and everything at home. Do yourself a favor and buy a counter sink bit for a drill so you can sink the screws nice and snug into the wood. The stand works very well and does not move around. Thanks for the stand idea
