What are good comp temperatures?

Alright well I got my new comp and its got 2(i think so) temp probes inside. The lcd display is telling me that T1 is 60C and always stay there, the other one is around 30-34 except when I play games it goes up to a max so far of 37. So what i wanna know is, at what temp should I be worried about it and what do you guys think those probes are on? Graphics card/processor/maybe room temperature. I just wanna know before I open it up and look for them if no one has any idea.

The core Temps depend on your CPU. Each CPU operates at different Tmperature ranges. Did you build the computer yourself? Are you using the stock heatsink/fan? What CPU are you using?

My Athlon XP 2600+ is running at 53C right now and gets up to 60C on hot days under heavy loads. CPU temps will be higher or lower, depending on the weather. Right now, my case temp is at 36C. Your temps don't seem too bad. You might want to invest in a better Heatsink/Fan in order to drive down that CPU temp. More case fans will help too.

If the LCD for Core temp is constantly at 60C even when you just start up the comp after it being off for a while, then the temperature probe is not working correctly. What motherboard do you have? There is always a program called Motherboard monitor 5 that will tell you what it thinks the CPU temp is. This program is not compatible with all motherboards. Of course, the most accurate way of checking temps is to go into your BIOS.

I'm running a P4 3.2c on a P4C800E-DLX mobo. I chose the parts and pccanada put it together for me. My case (Thermaltake Lanfire) has 5 or so fans including power supply. I'll have to check it cause I dont think one of the probes is either connected at all or just not working like you said cause its been reading 60 even immediatly on my first start up. Sometimes it hits 60.4 but I'm starting to think its reading room temperature because its in my basement and 60c sounds like the right temp. I'll have to get a real thermometer down here to measure room temp and compare.

Mother Board Monitor 5 tells me my case temp is 31-32C and my cpu is 42C. The top temp probe on the case LCD Display is always 60.0 or 60.4, nothing in between.

First of all, If your basement was 60C, you would be baking, thats about 140F-ish. You LCD temp is wrong. You comp is running at optimum temperature. That is the normal operating range for your CPU. Your case LCD thermometer is wrong. 37C (98F) is still a decent temp for a case, but it is a little warm for an Intel chip. 31-32C is perfect. MBM5 is right (or at least more accurate). Your temps are fine. Your Case thermometer is not.

It should not be that high, either the probe needs to be closer to the chip or it is reading incorrectly.....or it maybe you need better cooling.....

I'm running a not breath taking Athlon 1.41 with a Nexus AXP 3200 heatsink....my temp probe usually reads this around 40-45 idle and 50-52 load. It should never really be higher than 55.

The best way to check the real temp is to have your computer on for a while until it shows this '60'.....then turn it off, open the case and touch the side of your heatsink...if it is really hot then you have a problem! If its slighty warm then its around the right temp.

Whatever it is get inside and have a look around....see whats connected to what...and maybe some sensors need to be secured.....

:) 👍

Yeah I confused myself with temp, room temperature right now is about 21C, at night its around 60F. I just wanted to know if the temps were close to normal, there is virtually no ventilation in this room when I'm in it unless the air conditioning is on because I close the door. When I'm not using it at all the lcd shows 30-31C. 34C when I'm running a few progs and downloading, and a max of 37 after a while of playing hardware intense games like farcry on max.

Thx for replies.

My Intel Celeron processor is usually at around 50 whenever I check. If I start playing games it goes upto 60+. :scared:

Those temps are normal, you shouldn't listen to these guys. They obviously didn't read my posts. You temps are 100% normal. 👍

I have a 2.8 ghz with hyperthreading from Intel. My processer is usually anywhere from 80 - 100 degree's fahrenheit. If you don't use the imperial measurement system you can convert it to metric. I don't know how.

My Case is 91.4 F(34 C) and CPU is 96.8 F(36 C) currently. I love my Vantec Tornado and Thermalright SLK-800A Heatsink combination. Before I installed that combination of heatsink and fan, my cpu(AthlonXP 2100+) would run upwards of about 122 F to 130 F on a stock heatsink.

The CPU fan may be noisey even underclocked to 4192 RPM but I hardly even notice it any more.
