What are the Classes of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring?

The question in the thread.

Being new to motorsports, I am still learning a great many things. And of those great many things, are the categories of 24 hour races. :dunce:

Watching the 24 hours of Le Mans thrilled, and it's classes were easy to find info for. The Nurb though... finding can't find anything in the English speaking world. :indiff:

Henceforth, can anyone explain to me what are the current classes of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and define them as well? If there is a link that any of you know, I would greatly appreciate it. 👍

And as an added bonus, the first one to explain to me (wether by link or explanation text) gets 8 racings suits, 8 racing helmets, and any tradeable premium car of their choice with every tune available (with the exception of permanent upgrades, just in case you need it in stock form).
 
Basically there are a crap load of classes so I won't bother listing them. What is actually possible without going into a long confusing post is provide the divisions.

A variety of cars compete at the same time during each race. In the 2009 season, there were 30 classes of cars in four divisions.

-The Series Cars division is intended to allow relatively low cost racing with near-series cars. It consists of six gasoline classes differentiated by engine displacement V1 to V6 and a diesel class VD.

- The Specials division consists of pure race cars that may compete in other race series. It consists of the classes SP1 to SP8 differentiated by engine displacement with an optional suffix T for turbo charged engines, the SP9 class for FIA GT3 cars, the SP10 class for SRO GT4 cars, the special E1-XP 2009 class and the D1T to D4T classes differentiated by engine displacement for diesel cars.

- The Cup division consists of one-make cup cars in the classes Cup1: Seat Leon, Cup2: Honda Civic R, Cup3: Porsche Carrera Cup.

- The H division consists of cars made in 1996 and before. It consists of the classes H1 to H4 differentiated by engine displacement.

The race is ran by VLN(Don't ask what it means, you'll see why in a second) regulations. You can read more about it here(Good luck pronouncing the actual name:lol:).

Well that's an exxagerated amount of classes! I wonder who's the dumb genius who came up with such a thing!?? I'm gonna ninja kick him! I mean, just because the 24hNurb is epic, doesn't mean it's number of classes have to be!

They had to be Germans.... overly complicated bunch, heh, just like their cars. My tounge is officially a knot. :yuck:

Different cars fall within different classes. A "class" of car might be defined as a set of rules that a group of cars fit into because of their comparable performance, and thus will be directly competing against one another. You can't just say "Oh, we're not going to have this class of car because we have too many classes", especially if someone enters a car that cannot be sorted into any of the classes that are already competing.

Well, the organizers of Le Mans used to have many different classes during the 1970s up though the mid-1980s. There used to be a NASCAR class at Le Mans among the eight classes racing at the time. Now, there's four.
 
The classes are essentially the same as those used in the VLN endurance series, with a few minor differences.

CUP2 cars (997 GT3 Cup) from the VLN become SP7, and CUP3 cars (Clio Cup) are listed as either SP3 or N2.

There maybe others, but those are the ones I've noticed.
 
There are a few big ones that I know they might not be all of them. First there are the LMP1 cars (le mans prototype)these cars are the top of the line cars who are usually backed by multimillion dollar companies these cars usually have custom built engines and are tested like nobody's business. Then there are the LMP2 cars these are the cars that run engines that aren't custom built they're just high quality race engines. Next are the GT1 cars (grand touring) these cars are stock cars such as a Porsche 911 that has been customized to race long distances and essentially become a racing car. Then there is the GT2 is the next step down it's the same thing but there are horsepower restrictions that separate the classes and these go all they way down to GT3 the lowest class.
 
My mistake didn't know we were talking about nurburgring. Yeah they dont race LMP cars on nurburgring the other like the GT1s to the GT3s they race those at nurburgring

just spell the full name of VLN and the track its at. Then count how many miles long it is and how many turns.


Then compare it turns per mile compared to American tracks like Daytona road course. Lol
