I'm a veteran to the GT series since GT3, but now there's this whole online thing. I've stumbled upon the remote races and learned that they are a great way to level up your B-spec drivers (from the computer/away from the PS3) without paying any attention. Online A-spec races can be excellent, too, depending on what one is looking for. But what is the point of uploading (up to 6) cars from your garage? As best I can tell they are merely eliminated from your options when you go to enter a race - A-spec, B-spec, or in the online Open Lobby. Who/What uses these cars? What's the point?

To share with your friends, people are asking to borrow on here all the time. Its perfect if your just starting the game now because essentially you don't have to buy anything just borrow from someone and save your money.

As HOODFIELD says, uploading your car is to let every of your friends to use it.

GT players mostly share their cars to help each other to complete some events where specific cars are needed. For example, Mr. A needs a rally car and has a LMP car, and Mr. B has rally car but needs LMP car. They both can set their cars online so they can use the cars thy needed (Much more like barter isn't it)

Don't worry about the damages that your friend will do on your car, it will be restored to the condition before the car uploaded

Thanks for the quick response. My next question is then, as a friend of a generous car collector who is already sharing six of his/her gem cars, how would I use one of those? That is, where do I go? On which kind of events can these cars be "borrowed" (online Open Lobby, My A-spec/B-spec races, etc.)?

You can borrow the car by selecting Profile>your friends profile>cars thumbnails>borrow in the career mode.

Cars that you've borrowed can be used in offline races, either A-spec and B-spec, just like FishyJuice mentioned, and also practice mode and photo mode.

But you cannot use it for online races, and getting it into GT Auto and tuning shop.
