I've heard people call it a DeLoren DMC-12, a Toyota Supra, a Toyota Celica, a Ford Mustang and a Lotus Esprit. Personally I always thought it was a Matra Murena:

Considering it's a French cartoon, the Matra Murena would make a lot of sense. And you've just reminded me how much I liked watching that show when I was a kid, I wish they still aired it so my kids could watch it.
