I'm sure if it was him in the photo, he'd know what car it was.

I dunno. He might have just won a trophy for 'Best International Shorts Wearer', and then gone an stood by the first cool looking car in the lot.

And it is a nice Scirocco. Looks like it has some kinky headlamps in it too, and I'm not sure that front bumper is stock.

depends if it has a Scirocco badge on the back. but why would anyone have their photo taken infront of one. (unless it was his car)

I'll be quiet now :)

It appears to be a 1986½-1991 16v model. Ask the guys at VWVortex, they can tell you everything about it.

Does the front bumper appear to be missing, or is it an optical illusion?

I recently saw my first Scirocco in California at the In-N-Out in Oakland. I'm glad we got out of Oakland fast...it was getting dark. Most people know that you do NOT go outside at night in Oakland unless you want to get shot.

Yes, it appears the front bumper has been removed; I would assume to save weight for autocross... though traditionally when the front bumper is taken off, the little rubber closure panel at the top is also removed.

It has a Euro-spec bumper. In that vintage, the American lawmakers were insisting on rubber bumpers the size of Manhattan.

Prepare to be very disappointed!

I have to agree, there would be no Jeep in the game if you don't tell them about it,they won't know and that doesn't even consider them to put the manufacturer in the game.Just be happy what PD are doing so far.But if you were a MOPAR guy,you would at least be happy that they included Dodge and Chrysler in the game.By the way, nice car.Looks like the Corrado, but i might be wrong....

Nah Corrados have a thicker C pillar and don't have wrap around headlights.

Corrados were based on the MKII Golf chassis, the Scirocco was based on the MKI Golf chassis.

Looks a bit more modern compared to the Scirocco...

See?

i always thought the corrado was the successor to the scirocco :dopey:

And you were proved right. That's a UK Corrado up top, and a Federal Scirocco down below.

I owned as Golf Rallye G60 SE (1 of 60 SEs made) and it really was a fabulous car. It was lowered, properly set-up, and by the time I finished with it, it had a Mr G-Lader gas-flowed stage 1 supercharger, Scorpion straight through pipe (no cat, *cough*) and various other bits and pieces. I bought it with a small pulley, but that's what destroyed the end seals on the G60.

It would flame on the overrun (just like GT4,) set off car alarms in narrow streets and multi-storey carparks, and would 'beat' at 2,000rpm so that it sounded like a TVR V8. It was awesome. Don't ask what happened to it, it's too painful to recall. :( It is, I believe, now prowling the streets of Liverpool.

I miss you, G400OSS! If anyone spots him, do drop me a pic. :)

Sounds like one helluva ride there. The Scirocco and the Corrado both were quite rare around here, despite the general love for VW on this side of the State. There was actually a prime example of an MKI Scirocco at a car show I was at not too long ago, and the thing I loved about it most (in all seriousness) was the "classic VW smell" to the car, which may be hard to explain to folks who are unfamiliar with it. Although the MKI models were quite cool, I'm more likely to pick the later MKII Sciroccos with the 16V just because it was such a killer engine with an exceedingly good chassis.
