So... I got a M3 a few years ago, new, from a BMW Williams Dealer. I am looking to get a new car soon and I've been looking at cars on Mercedes, Range Rover and Audi. I have been looking at an Evoque and a Range Rover Sport on their website although as much as I would like an Autobiography, it is out of my price range. I haven't really taken to any car on the other websites and I'm looking for more of a Saloon or Estate rather than a Coupe or Convertible. I have quite a bit to spare with my mum and dad helping me and all but yeah... Post some suggestions. Thanks for your time anyway. :)

Jaguar XJ. Awesome, awesome car.

What's your budget, approximately, so I can be more specific with my suggestions? (If you don't mind me asking)

I was thinking a Jag aswell. I don't mind you asking at all, it's about 60-70k

I really envy you. For around 70 grand you could get a new Jaguar XJ Supercharged.

You've got a lot of possibilites in that budget, so I'll list what I'd be looking at in the 4+ doors category:

New-
Jaguar XJ
Jaguar XFR
Audi S6/S7
BMW 550i
Maserati Ghibli (when it goes on sale)

Used-
Maserati Quattroporte
Audi S8 (current one)
E63 AMG
BMW M5
Audi RS6

As you can see, I favour a saloon or estate. I've also assumed that you're looking for something big, given that you want four doors. I've always wanted an Asto Martin, and for 70 grand you might even be able to get a V12 Vantage, and a nice DB9 would run between 40 and 50 grand.

I hope I've helped a bit

Yeah, I was just looking at the Jaguar website and I built a Jaguar Short Wheelbase Premium Luxury and added a few extra to make it come up to 70,500. I didn't want to get the 70k one because then it would be basic. The only reason I can afford a car like that is because my mother and father are property developers and recently sold a house. I have narrowed it down to either a RR Sport or Jag XJ.

EDIT: I've just been looking on the used Jaguar website and I've found a Jaguar Portfolio LWB in Caviar Black with Ivory Leather interior. It was registered this year and has just over 6 miles on the clock. It has Rear Seat Entertainment and a lot of added extras. It's only on for 59k so I think I'll have a closer look at that.

In that case, I'd go for the Jaguar XJ. It's got a lovely chassis, so you'll be able to have fun it it, and I think the interior is one of the best in the world at any price point. The Range Rover is nice, but won't be as fun and probably won't feel quite as luxurious.

I found this on eBay, I don't know if you like it, but it's similar to the one you found on Jaguar's site, though this one has 1500-ish miles.

I save about 10k if I was to buy new. I had a look at the car on eBay and it's very nice but the only issue is that its in Glasgow.

Yeah, that could be a problem. As long as you like the car you found on Jaguar's website, I'd buy it. It's a great deal and looks terrific.

No Volvo estate?! :O I think I'd rather have a Volvo estate than a Jaguar... But, then again, I'm weird.

Haha.

Yeah, I'm gonna speak to my dad about it in the morning and see what he thinks. :) Thanks for all your help. 👍

I guess I've simply adjusted to not having $60,000 (UKP or CDN?) To spend on a car.

I've heard that a Volvo Estate is the best value for money in luxury estates, but..... Never been in one. :( Bucket list?

That may be true, but a Volve estate doesn't have the power, luxury, beauty, badge appeal, chassis, and awesomeness of the X351 Jaguar XJ.

The Jag doesn't seem special enough to me in the U.K. There are so many (including LWB) around, they just blend in...

A Bentley on the other hand...

 I'm not disagreeing. I've just never even considered it, it's too far out of my reach.

YouButNotYou, if you get a Jaguar, please treat it right. You'd be very lucky to have one. :)

Although you say that Jaguars are so common in the U.K., I have only ever seen one XJ and that was a SWB. I admit that the X-Types and F-Types aswell as the XF's are really common but just not the XJ's in my opinion.

I will, don't you worry. ;)

Aha! I knew there was a car thatI was forgetting! You could probably get a Continental Flying Spur in your budget with a bit left over, and an Arnage could be had for half your budget.

I love the Jag, though, and getting a new car is cool.

I'd steer well clear of an Arnage for the monumental running costs. Never been a fan of the FS either: it manages to look both ungainly and boring.

The Jag is (apparently) the nicer steer, will be much kinder to your wallet at the pumps (massively so if you're going the diesel route). That'd be my pick too if I were looking in that category with that sort if budget 👍

I think I'm pretty sure on what car I would like, the XJ that I've seen. I will have another look on the Jaguar website and see what I think. I will definitely ask Giles soon about his car and see what he has to say. Thanks for all your help. :) 👍

The Jag is a nice car, I think I'd rather spend time in the back of one than up front, though.

Aside from running costs, the Bentley is, at least here and I think in the UK as well, a bit crass for what it is. I think over there you'd say it's a bit of a footballer's car.

How about a 6 Grand Coupe? It seems to tick the right boxes, and it's a really nice car. Looks like they start about 10k below your top so there should be room for some options.
