What do I do for good challenging races?

I'm looking for the kind of thing I see out on the track in my Spitfire running with the SCCA. The closest I've found on the game thus far is the Historic event, but that was won easily enough once I got a hold of the 69 Camaro. It just seems like the AI cars almost "let" you pass when you get on their bumper, and they don't ever put up any kind of fight even when I'm in a car that has the same or less horsepower than they. It's kind of annoying honestly, but, I'm not writing this to complain, I'm just wondering, what car and event should I try running for the most even race?

(Ps, I already searched this and didn't find my answer, so please don't chastise me about the search bar =] )

Go online. The AI will always let you pass, if you pick a slow, terrible car, it will just take longer to get on their bumper. As soon as you get their though they will trip on themselves to let you by.

Go online When it is back up of course. In the meantime just pick a car similar to the AI's and if you have to, reduce the power limiter.

Fully mod a car, get into an arcade mode race, and then take off all the parts.
