A random thought came to me. What do you think the interior of your Standard cars would look like, if you could customize it with accessories like in real life?

Here's what I imagine that my 1990 Fiat Panda Super i.e. looks like from inside:

The interior was totally stripped down and replaced with that of a real-life Daihatsu Hijet, albeit with a new speedometer, and a 7' TV screen with Sky+ (which, for safety reasons, conveniently pauses the programme you were watching when you're on the move), a sat-nav and radio.

So, what would your standard cars look like on the inside, taking ideas from my example? No ridiculous JDM-tuner style stuff please, just keep a matter of realism.

Er...

My style of realism would be stripped out and caged.

No TV's...

Just sayin.

Sorry,I don't like the JDM stuff at all,but your Panda's interior looks more "ridiculous" and less "realistic" than anything I saw before.

And then...Daihatsu Hijet...are you serious?

The 1990 Panda's interior looks nothing like that.

No no you see, in his mind he's replaced the entire dashboard with that of a van, then stuck a TV in it. For some reason I can't fathom.

I know imagination is a great virtue but this is ridiculous.

I know how it looks like in 2000 camaro ss because i had 1 in real life

Trought I like his idea about stoping the display when the car is moving.. That's pretty creative and could avoid distraction and lots of accidents.

I'm not sure if there's already a system like this in some car TV's or DVD's...

Applied to real life, urban driving, it is indeed a clever idea.

There is. Older cars with just one screen that is visible to the driver would disable the display when the car is moving. That's how my Dad's old Audi A8 worked anyway. Modern in-car TV's will still display for passengers but will not display for the driver (except maybe sat-nav) when on the move. Land Rover have a really neat system that only uses one display in the front, but splits what is showing depending on which angle it's viewed from. The driver will only see sat-nav whereas the passenger can continue to watch TV - at the same time, on the same screen!

Also, I've posted pictures of actual cars from GT6 on GTP that haven't got as many "likes" as my above joke . Nice photos with artistic merit. :p

I KNOW! I couldn't care less about any other feature on it after I saw that for the first time. I've seen it with my own eyes in a dealership (my Dad was getting his old Disco serviced - I wasn't looking to buy ) and I kept getting out and swapping seats in pure astonishment! (It works whilst stationary as well.)

I think that it is based on a LCD essentially emitting its light in two different directions. I think there were TV prototypes that did that some time ago. Never heard of them going to market though.

I can see how someone would think that's a good application of that technology. I don't think people would like to wear headphones in their living rooms though, which you'd obviously need to do in order to hear the separate programmes, hence the rarity of them.

Aaaaannyway... in an attempt to bring this slightly strange thread back on topic..

TV in a race/track car? No thank you. If I was going for realism I would have a stripped-out interior in a car intended for track use (either by the manufacturer or by myself).

Well doing offline 24min races you would have enough time to squeeze in a Friends re-run. It's not like you have to focus a lot on your "opponents'. :sly:

Sony pushed something similar called SImulview which they seem to have ultimately canned, basically instead of split screen each player had their very own 'screen' to play their friends at. :)

Followed that link and got "that page no longer exists." Proof, if proof was needed, that it's been canned, I suppose :p. It's ok. I believe you.

What do you imagine the interior of your Standard cars like?

Cold, dark, dank neglected space that gets in the way of enjoying anything.....much like the GT6 development/support section in PD HQ.
