What do you mean I'm not allowed to drive?

This ones for all the wheel user out there with force feedback. Does anyone else find it annoying that the wheel moves itself to try and turn you around when your reversing after a spin for example? Even just sitting in one spot, the wheel just makes up its own mind which direction to point, and not only is it annoying but it slows down the whole process of trying to get back to racing as often it messes you up. I think PD should alter this effect, force feedback is for feeling understeer, oversteer and the bumps etc. Not for driving the car for you.

I haven't noticed this at all. Maybe you have steering assist on (may be wrong, I'm not sure how it works)? The only problem I've had when reversing is having to hold down triangle.

Force feedback has to move the wheel to give you the feedback and, if you're not holding it, it will move of it's own accord. That's what force feedback does.

The wobbling back and forth when you're stationary is a quirk (read: Bug / 'Feature') of something they've done in the physics system.

When you reverse, it isn't trying to turn you around, it's the result of that quirk (i.e, the wheel moving a bit to one side due to the quirk)

You start to reverse, and if you aren't holding the wheel, it'll have twitched to one side.

As you now are reversing and have rear wheel steer, it will exaggerate the effect and the wheel will turn more. This is the normal force feedback working properly.

If you accelerate in reverse in your real car and turn the wheel then let it go, I'm fairly sure it'll do the same thing, although admittedly, I can't say I've tried recently...

If I start reversing in real life in a straight line then let go of my wheel the car will continue to go straight on a flat surface. Do the same in GT5 and the wheel will turn itself to try and correct you.

It turns itself due to the glitch in the physics whereby the wheel twitches / rocks left and right. Once it's twitched a bit to one side, because reversing exaggerates the effect, it effectively turns you around.

When driving forwards in a straight line, if you let go of the wheel it will rock left and right (unless it's dead centre it seems), the same is happening when you reverse, except it causes the car to spin round because you're reversing.

I think having the force feedback strength turned down would stop this, but it doesn't bother me enough to want to lower the brutality :)

Hopefully the rocking will be fixed soon as it's a bit crap looking when you pull over and it sits there rocking madly left and right...:nervous:

Do you have assist on?
If so turn it off..
If it is off and you experience this, just hold the wheel like a pirate on his ship. Wrarrr

All assists are off and it's in simulation mode. It's annoying whether it's a glitch, or poor design element either way.

I'm pretty confident it didn't do it before the slight physics tweak where they changed the handling a bit.

Which is the most realistic mode, pro or sim? And whats the difference between them? I'm using pro at the moment.

I just assumed it was supposed to simulate the effect of manual steering when the wheels are being jerked around during a spin. I too find it annoying but I assumed it was intentional.

I can't say I've noticed this, but then I can't say I often find myself needing to reverse after a spin. :sly:

Seriously though, I hate not having pressure sensitive reverse so if possible I just try to pull myself around forward. It also helps me to see better if someone is coming so I don't pull out in front of them.

I think that is true, anyway its an annoying glitch especially if you leave the wheel while going fast on a main straight of a circuit , and the effect is exaggerated in the F1 car . I really hope PD fixes this rocking bug with steering wheel

Yeah, the rocking back and fourth while waiting to start was something they did in the last update. And the modes for the wheel does not affect any 900* wheel. IE DFP, G25, DFGT.

Yeah that happens to me sometimes aswell when i'm at the starting grid!

I have a solution :) Just keep your hands on the wheels at all times...:sly::sly: and when reversing, dont steer... if you watch closely it will do the steering FOR you just hold in triangle and you'll almost always end up in the right direction :) atleast thats what I noticed lately.👍👍 but nonetheless... A very annoying bug.... especially when you get up to do something... the wheel keeps rocking and seems to get worse as times passes... lol

The wheel doesn't rock if you leave it straight when you let go, not for me at least.

holden spd im sure it does mine does not do it on a strait away if it is EXACTALLY center, but if u touch the wheel in a VERY VERY slight left or right and let go it will rock back and forth NASTY. There is nothing u can do to fix this tho untill they update. Hopefully they get this fixed as i hate to see such a nice game have crappy wheel pyhics, due to minor bugs that should have been fixed before the devs released the update..

I know.

And which car are you using in real life that you are actually driving in the game? Come on man, all of us who actually own an Amuse S2K can easily tell you that the wheel does just that when you put the car in reverse. :sly:

That's funny, my GT LM does it too!

Funny, the Focus XR5 Turbo I've actually driven was fine when I was reversing it, otherwise I'd have dinged it and gotten fired as it was a customer car.;)
