What firmware version needed for GT5 XL?

Hi all,

The search feature always sucks with vBulletin, and googling yielded zero results... I'm on firmware 3.55 and don't have internet to update, so I didn't want to purchase GT5 XL and not be able to play. Does anyone know what firmware version it requires? I remember the original one that I borrowed from my cousin required v3.30. GT5 XL's box says v3.30 needed on the back for 3D, but I'm not sure if that applies to the game as well.

Please advise.

If the firmware on the ps3 is old, all ps3 game disc carrys the newest firmware at the time its released so no worries. Go to system update, select search from media and your set. Also GT5 XL will give u all updates to 2.0 as well.

Because information for piracy is what people are mainly after when they state they are on firmware 3.55 and for some reason can't upgrade, being the last one with an exploit which allows homebrew software and loaders to be executed on the PS3.

Besides, the latest firmware is already included on the disc of every PS3 game (as of their release) and gets mandatorily installed without the need for an Internet connection in order to play, so there would be no need to fear of being unable to play it, and therefore what the OP wrote in his first and probably only post is just a dumb excuse.

Anyway, pretending the OP is in good faith, answering the initial question it's likely that GT5 carries a firmware 4.00 although I don't have precise data. Just crosscheck the PS3 firmware release list on Wikipedia and the GT5 XL release data:

It's his hardware so we're not to say how he should be using it.
CFW brings functions that the console should have from release or from updates, sadly piracy comes with it but we're not to discus it here how and why.
