How is the GT series going to move forward with GT4? It's all well and good adding more cars, more tracks and better graphics. But if the the formula is the same as GT1,2 and 3 will it hamper the game? What PD need to do with GT4 and I believe thay are going to is rather than focus on adding content which is always good but it doesn't drive a series forward, they need to improve the games atmosphere.
GT3 as good as it was and still is had very little atmosphere, be it tuning or setting up your car or actually racing. You won't start seeing screenshots of GT4 with 10 or 11 cars on screen at once soon, getting 5 opponents in a race in a GT game even with the AI at super stupid level take alot of processing power.
What they need is variable weather, and weather that can change mid race which would certainly liven up endurance races, they shouldn't over use the mid race changes in weather though, if it happened every race or two it would get tired very quickly, pit stops also need looking into, they need to be more interactive. We need fuel options, how much fuel will you put in you could even go so far as to choose which fuel supplier you use in the tune shops or would that be the tuners village thats been metioned by Kaz, also you should be able to change settings change tyre compounds and repair damage if any kind is included in GT4 and so on. Cosmetic damage is a must eventually for me, but mechanical damage is more important and I hope it's included in GT4.
Another point I mentioned in another thread a while ago, maybe have instead of in each race your up against an RX-7, R34 GT-R, Vette Z06 ect, there could be a few hundered profiles on the GT4 disk for the AI drivers, and you could check up on them and over period of time you would learn some of the drivers traits, you would be able to tell if your up agains a pro driver who hardly ever loses, and then you might start a race later on in your GT4 career and be up against a driver you've never raced before, he could be one of the best drivers in the game and kik your ass, or he could just be a nobody who's managed to scrape a few wins to get to that level.
And ofcourse the AI needs to go up several gears, the GT Universe should dump the Beginner, Amature and Pro format GT3 had, it just semed too artificial. What they should have is the Race screen, from here you choose road race or off road race. From each of these screens you get a selection of every available race category from F cars only to the F1 cars. ach type of event should feature several competitions, so when you select say the FF cars only you'll be able to choose from a variety of single races at varying license levels, a few series races, ay one for each license and then maybe an endurance race or two and if you used that formula for each different series, GT4 would be a very vast game. It would have 20 or 30 different types of series each with single races, series races and endurance races to choose from.
As a bonus for completing the game you could get an event generator similar to the one in GT2, but not only will this add a random event generator function but it will add a similar function for each of the race types, so then if you go into the FF races, you'll have all the different races, series and enduro's, and then random race, random short series (3-5 races 2-5 laps each), random long series 5-10 races 5-10 laps each), random endurance series (10 races+ with 10 - 20 laps each) and random endurance race, it selects a random track and gives you a race time of between 1 and two hours.
If anyone else has any ideas to share make sure you share them and if anyone has any opinions of my ideas posted, share thoes too.
