I finally got a PS3. Right now i have Gt5P , assassin's creed & madden 09.I'm thinking about trading madden in but I'm not sure what I want to get. Right now I'm thinking MGS4, Midnight Club, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted and maybe Little Big Planet. I'm leaning towards MGS4 but I also like Midnight Club. I'll probably end up getting all of these games but right now I'm only going to get one. So any suggestions?
 
Get the new street fighter coming out, it looks sick! im not really into that kind of stuff but sf is old skool. There arent really any good racing game out there besides gt5, you can try grid i heard its good.

Hmm Ferrari Challenge? Im really interested in one.. 40 Dollars USD for brand new.. So go for it.. It's way way better then GRID.. Grid = arcade Ferrari Challange is more sim!

If your into car games get GT5:P, GRID, and Ferrari Challenge. They are all must haves for car gamers.
 
Street Fighter does look sick. I for got about Ferrari Challenge.
 
I'd recommend the following:
MGS4 is a must if you're thinking about it
Call of Duty 4 & World at War, though 4 may be a better place to start
Fallout 3, if you can live with a lot of bugs and crashes, its a huge game and fun if it works.
Far Cry 2 is quite fun if you can get it cheap
Little Big Planet
Burnout Paradise will last you a while
Resistance 2
Bioshock
GTA IV.

All of the above have kept me playing for ages, and so you have an idea of the kind of scale we're talking about here, I finished Assassin's Creed in a weekend (as in all the missions, not all the flags and Templars... Which was pointless.).

Wipeout HD, Warhawk, Super Stardust HD and Burnout (if you don't get it on disc) are the only PSN games I'd bother with, personally, Pain really wasn't worth it as far as I'm concerned.

But yeah, if you want some games that'll last you some time (and you like online play, that is), go with those!

Edit: Uncharted is also quite good, but not all that challenging, even on Crushing. Getting all the trophies is really the only replay value (all the in-game achievements are the same) and I got all of those in a weekend too...!

Edit again: I don't mean to boast, just saying it might not last that long. If you can get it cheap though, do it, otherwise maybe put it further down the list?
 
Here are some games of each genre. All wich I think are proberly the best of each genre. Everyone i mentioned here are top quality.

Uncharted drakes fortune. 3D shooter ala tomb raider style, gorgeous graphics, combined with a really good story.

Dead space. Did you like the Alien movies ? this game is basicly like playing them, really good gameplay and great story.

Fifa 09. The best sportsgame on PS3, nuff said.

Burnout paradise. Best arcade racer on PS3. its not realistic but its very fun, if you like fast action

GT5 P. and Ferrari challenge equaly good they are the best sims on PS3.

Metal gear solid 4. Im sure you already heard how good this game is. Its true.

Fallout 3. Best RPG its awesome good story, and lots of stuff to do.

Disgaea 3. Its a strategic roleplaying game. Graphics look like a PS2. but once you get sucked into the gameplay, you cant let go of it. Proberly the best longterm value game, there are 100's of hours of gameplay here.

COD 4. Best first person shooter.
 
Ferrari Challenge, GT5P,F1CE older game but still really good. And coming soon Super Car Challenge from the makers of FC looks like it is going to be great.

F1CE= Formula 1 Championship Edition. But hurry the online servers are going offline on 5/12/09
 
I'll go for ferrari challenge & metal gear solid 4. But there are same big games coming like resident evil 5 & killzone 2.

Well because if you are really interested in Racing Sim games everyone says it's one of best next to GT5P on PS3. So I might buy it myself.
 
I definitely recommend getting MGS4 and Fallout 3, both of those lasted me a fairly long time. Get LittleBigPlanet if you're going to actually build levels, because I traded mine in for Ferrari Challenge after I beat it the first time.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a good investment as well, and can last a long time. It's also one of those games you can put away for a few months and pick up again when you're bored with your current selection.

Formula One Championship Edition, while I'm only picking it up today, is probably one of the more in depth racers on the console. The demo gives me some of the greatest feelings of racing I've ever had in a game. It recreates the feeling of being in a race (penalties, damage, pits, etc.) perfectly.
 
GTA IV is the only absolute must have purchase I can think of. All the others are more or less subjective depending on what you're in to.

Wait till you do career mode, I love working my way through the backender teams up to the front row teams, nabbing the odd point or two and trying to impress the top teams in trials. Good game, easily one of the best F1 games ever made.
 
I just downloaded a game I never played before(only9.99 on PS Store) GTI Club + Rally Cote a 'zur Its not a SIM not even a serious racing game really ,just a FUN Arcade game to mess round with. So far I like it a lot. Got some fun cars to play with.

Anyone else play(ed) this one.

The problem with game suggestions is that so much depends on your own personal preference and taste.

However, of the games you listed I would personally rank them as follows:
  • Little Big Planet
  • MGS4
  • Uncharted
  • GT5P
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Madden 09
  • Midnight Club: LA

To get a much better general concensus though I would look at sites liek Metacritic and GameRankings that compile and aggregate established published reviews to come up with an overall score and rank.

Odd that GT5:P is not on that list yet Rock Band 2 is, is that US rated games?

Both Metacritic and GameRankings include some reviews from other countries in their aggregate scores, but most are from North America. From what I can tell they keep mostly to english language reviews, but they my very well occasionaly include even a foreign language review.

That said, GT5P is sill highly rated, it's just that it lacks the same broad appeal as many of the games on that list. Not only that, but it was in the Top 20 before, but as you can see, most of the games in the current Top 20 came out after GT5P.

MLB '09 The Show - coming out soon - awesome baseball game. ( I already pre-ordered it )
LIke golf ? Tiger Woods golf is pretty fun , especially online.
 
Thanks for all your help. I ended up getting MGS4 off Ebay and I traded Madden for Dynasty Warriors 6. I 'm probably also going to get Midnight Club this week. I might have to check out Ferrari Challenge because I do like racing games. I might also try Burnout Paradise also. They will probably hold me for awhile.
 
Well I got Midnight Club today. While I was at Walmart this evening I saw Burnout Paradise for $20. I'll probably go back and get it
