Basically just tell how you got into drifting weather it be your friends or something different.

I first experienced drifting when me and my friend were in his car.He told me to put my seat belt on and he started going sideways. Since then i've been going sideways myself meeting great drifters along the way.

watching the 2008 EBISU round of the D1GP fell in love. i really couldn't understand what they where saying but i understood the sport :) i watch drifting everyday and it never gets boring. Ken Nomura is GOD ! :)
then watching a pre Long Beach Gran Prix drift demo :) turned out that it was formula d i was watching :)

1996 or 1997 I saw my first video option on VHS. I still have my high school notebooks from back in the day (late 90's) littered with drifting photos. Come to think of it, a lot of us in Hawaii knew what drifting was mid-late 90's.

I've always been fascinated with cars going fast. When i was little we always went to watch Neste Ralli (yes i know, a shocker). From the first time i saw those machines blow by i wanted to do something similar myself. Well, it's drifting im into right now :)

7 years ago, 21 years old, my first proper car, a mint S14 and a soaking wet trackday at Dijon Prenois in France.

Car WOULD NOT go in a straight line LOL Several spins in the morning, but by the afternoon I was linking corners left right and centre. Searched the net for videos of people going sideways, found drifting. Life changed.....forever.

When my friend got interested in drifting. So on GT5 we went and drifted and I enjoyed it.

what got me into drifting is when i first saw initial d, formula drift , D1gp , and even when saw some vids of keiichi tsuchiya aka drift king on youtube =).

I remember it was 2003 maybe 2004 saw some drifting on a motoring channel then after that got a d1gp video with the old kei office s15 after that ive been obsessed ever since ;)

Well it's probably in the water around here considering there is some top level drifters that have won rounds in Europe, UK and in the US over the years and lots of quite cross-roads and S-bends have had plenty of squiggly black lines on them for years.

Between watching some lads I know in the first Irish drift series, first car being a rwd so naturally proceeded to drift any wet roundabout or nice junctions with that even though it was a 1.6 and only had an open diff :)

Got alittle bored of going to see competitions then for a while but myself and some of my mates have got really into it over the last few years again so entering competitions and messing around withthe cars again has me firmly bitten by the bug again and getting my new car ready at the moment when time and funds permit out of college.

Until then, GT5 will do for getting my fix and practicing as drifting on the road in my daily is getting to the point where risks are too high if something goes wrong.

My older bro did it before I could drive and I thought it was bad a$$ since then Iv done it at every opportunity however it's rather an expensive hobby so finances to not permit me to do it as much as I would like. But I get my fix when ever my bro is about as hes still well into it and gt5 helps

My poor cornering ability led to much skidding, which led to intentional powersliding, which eventually led to drifting.

Drifting cars came natural to me since I was a little boy, I used to drift my little toy cars (Micro Machines! hahaha). But of course I didn't know it was drifting back then I just thought my toy cars looked cool with the back end going sideways...this thread gave me some flash backs hahaha

Dunno. Just joined a drift room in GT5 and asked how do you do it?
Some guy gave me the full lowdown on drifting and then I put into practice lol nothing fancy.

And same as Jeric. I use to try drift my hotwheels cars when I was younger aswel. Kinda off topic but I've collected so many of those little cars and hopefully when they get like 60 years old could get some money outta them :sly:

Saw a feature on Fifth Gear about drifting, probably 6 years ago, maybe more. Then after seeing the 3 D1GP cars in GT4 and doing a little more research I was hooked. Sadly I'm a poor student at the moment, so I'm not in any position to start in real life, but until then going to events and playing GT5 should keep me content!

I was drifting Hot Wheels around, making "skreeee" noises, before I ever picked up a videogame controller or gripped a steering wheel. Ridge Racer was probably my first introduction to the concept in terms of driving technique; Gran Turismo 3 refined that concept, and Live for Speed took it and ran with it.

By the time LFS came out I was already a licensed driver. Since that time I've corroborated my simulator technique with real-world experiences in various conditions. However, being an unemployed college student, I stick to LFS and winter driving.

when I was younger I use to watch WRC here and there. Then it went on to Initial D then to BMI, then to Top Gear and trying it in iRL.
