I was just wondering if anyone heard anything about the GTX? Its been over a month now that its been down. I would think that there would be some information floating around by now. I like the GTX just as much as GTP and no one seems to talk about it on here. So seriously, does anyone know whats going on?

👍

A better thread title might get you an answer. "What happened to GTX" would possibly be a better title.

I've yet to hear why the GTX has been down and for so long; it was mostly comprised of long-time GTF members. I don't get involved with chat rooms, so there's a whole lot of GTF/GTX & GTP members that might know that answer to that.

Edit: GTX = granturismox.net

And if he would have explained what GTX was, it might have also helped. +1 to Pupik for picking up the ball there.

Every time i visited GTX it was pretty much dead. At least the GT1 & 2 forums were. You'd see messages, but they were last posted in June!

If you don't know what GTX is, or was, then you're not going to be much use in answering the question, are you? 💡

To answer the original question, the GTX went down in October when the hosted server went down. Apparently this was a catostrophic failure of the server hardware, and Emion (board owner) had some difficulty with the hosting company getting the backup database file. Afterwards, it appeared the the ineptitude of the hosting company would not see the GTX return on one of their servers so Emion and Tat (Mrs. Emion) decided to build their own server, have ADSL installed in their home at their cost and attempt to bring the GTX back online.

Em was finally able to restore the database, but there were problems with the DNS service. After going round and round, he finally got a non-DNS'd address up, but only the Admins (including yours truly) were able to login.

Time was approaching the holidays, and with that and an increased load at work, he was forced to back burner the effort, and then right after the holidays, Tat found out they would be having another little one (#3, a boy this time), Needless to say, Em has not been able to put the full effort into getting the GTX back up, but still plans on doing so as soon as time permits.

Many of the old school GTF/GTX regulars are currently scattered about, hanging out here, at Numbers (which seems really slow as of late) and at Novicious' site, The Green Tavern...

The GTX will return. ;)

Thats what I figured.
Thanks NoQuarter for clearing that up. I posted the same question here awhile back and didnt get an answer. Its kinda weird what happened after the GTF went down.

I could have known, but assumed he meant Castrol GTX. Or an nVidia 8800GTX video card. Or something else completely unrelated.

You nevar know, Daan.

Quit it, you two.
What are you gibbering on about now? Who are the two, and what have they to quit?

Again, if you needed to ask, you don't know what happened to it.
