What happens if you load a 1.0 savefile with a 1.2 (Greatest Hits) disc? (NTSC)

As the title suggests. I want to play through GT2, but I have a version 1.0 disc, and that 98.2% max completion percentage is a real turn off for me.

Should I just look into getting a Greatest Hits (1.2) disc and play that beginning to finish, or can I play through 1.0 to 98.2%, and then load up that savefile on 1.2 and get 100%?
 
As far as I'm aware, the completion percentage number is not stored in the savegame, it's calculated from what has been completed. If you load up a 98.2% save on a fixed version, it will likely already say 100%.
