GTPlanet, the assumption for a thread like this is that there will be teamwork and actual team work. The inspiration for this discussion came from a game that's not in stores as of this date- "NASCAR 2006 Chase for the Cup." People, when you think about teamwork, the normal assumption is in having your team car on track, if you were to have a team. From what I've seen in the NASCAR 2006 footage, it seems like you control one driver on track, then you kind of change to one of your teammates to try to get that person up into the standings. Only thing you can hope doesn't happen is any team owner's nightmare- teammates taking each other out, like Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Michael Waltrip at this year's Coca-Cola 600 (yes, all 22 cautions of it). Kind of think of it as TOCA Race Driver 2 meets Tekken Tag Tournament. Or perhaps TOCA meets SOCOM, as the EA Sports crew said they wanted to bring "squad-based gameplay" to racing games.

You know how John-boy likes to do things. Why don't we step up this teamwork thing? Let's say that we make things as Gran Turismo meets GTA: San Andreas. No, I'm not talking about running away from police or cappin' on Ballas and Vagos, but in terms of the RPG-style of building. Perhaps as you win races, your team and B-Spec teammate will get better with each race. I think as a harking to Forza, you can kind of race a certain way, and your B-Spec racer will learn from you. As you teach your B-Spec racer, it adopts your driving style point-by-point. And with experience, it can drive like you, but with certain problems. With even more experience, it will drive almost exactly like you, but even CORRECT your driving problems, if any. As far as your team goes, the more in pitting, the faster and more skilled they will be. And if you have a teammate out on track and that driver places higher than you or something, more money will be rewarded. Since that money goes to the team, it becomes more like "our money." More money to spend on tuning or buying cars.

I have another idea for the B-Spec racer, but I'll save it until later. GTPlanet, imagine the next GT having an emphasis on teamwork. How will it work? What would you want? Reply now.

I don't think I want that in a GT, but I read about NASCAR '06 a few days ago and I am so buying that!

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read the post and thought you wanted that same driver switching feature! That all sounds good.

I didn't want a feature like that in GT. It would be confusing. Perhaps if you had a teammate on track, you can place high in the race, then (if you want to) immediately switch to your teammate and try to get that person into higher placing. Then, team finishes would be sugar sweet. Imagine you had a team that finished 1-2-3. It would be sweet.

I don't want certain elements of "NASCAR 2006: Chase for the Cup," but how would you want teamwork in the next GT? Remember, teamwork applies to your other racers, your pit team, all that.

That sounds really cool. I doubt it'll happen in the next installment but it's definitly a good idea. I just hope my B-Spec driver doesn't get better than me, otherwise I would have to kill him. Haha!

IMO, Racing has no team work what so ever! Get the heck out there and win! Who cares if you are my teammate or not, if you don't get out my way, prepare to end up in the sand!

Just Kidding! But I would sure get mad if I'm leading and the boss tells me to slow down and let my teammate take the lead!

I'm sure if the next GT had voice-chat capability both offline and online, I'd imagine this line between the virtual team principal and the GT gamer:

Owner: "Let him pass to get some points."
GT Driver: "🤬 off, I don't give a 🤬, you know what I'm 🤬 saying, 🤬?"

Okay, that was maybe a bit too much, but hey. Of course, only thing worse would be that if you swear too much, you only get a fraction of the race winnings. Any more teammate ideas?

No switching on-track. You can switch to B-Spec with your current runner on a pit-stop (like in GT4), and when the other car pits, switch with that driver... more realistic. And while you're driving, you can use the D-pad to control the B-Spec driver in the other car (with the set-pace and pit-controls.)

Personally, I don't see it happening successfully unless you had 30+ car fields.
