Do seasonal events get harder the more you play them?

I have been racing the Superspeedway at Daytona for the Stars & Stripes event and while I was racing after every race I had to keep tuning my engine down because it somehow after every race gained PP. Which doesn't make sense to me.

So I stopped for a bit and now (two days later) I am doing the same race, that I could win by over 10 seconds with my upgraded Viper SRT10 ACR '08 and today I couldn't scrape anything better than 3rd place with extreme concentration.

I guess I was just wondering if online events slowly get harder?
Thanks,

-Tyler

With the random increase of PP part, that's the car breaking in. After driving a car a lot and for a while, the horsepower will begin to rise due to the engine starting to, well, break in. Getting used to being driven I guess. Not sure how it works.

On the starting to lose part, that may be all you. Try again another time and see how you do. Maybe it was just a bad day.

Same AI lineups? Some lineups have a car (or two) that are way quicker than the rest, and if they start at the front of the field, can be difficult to beat.
If the opponents are the same, then it is all in your head :sly:

Alright so I gave it another go and the same luck.
I got 8th twice in a row.

When I first had the car tuned it had been preforming at 79% to keep within the 600PP.
And now I'm down to reducing my engine to 54%. I feel like that is such a huge difference but it says I'm at 600PP With this set up. My speed going around the turns went from around 189 on average to 172. So how can the game say that my car which could smoke the others before is now at the same level when it can hardly compete.

Maybe this is all in my head and I was just having a bad day, but I do appreciate the advice and will continue to try and see if it was just operator error. I know that it probably is, but I just have this feeling that with this big of a difference in performance it can't just be me.

Maybe I need to re-tune my car.

Thanks,

That is really strange. Engine break-in only effects the PP by a few points, not 20+%.

Maybe jump in a different ~600PP car and see how that competes? Or if you have the credits to burn, buy and upgrade another Viper and see if the same happens.

I hazard a guess that the max HP and torque curve got totally screwed when you have to engine limit the car.
The PP is partially calcuated by area under the HP. As the HP climbs from the engine breaking in so do the curve. So if the HP got limited at the top end earlier, your torque got drastically reduced as your RPM climbs. Therefore when you drive in the same gear near the redline, your torque got drastically reduced resulting in slower acceleration out of the corners. This will especially affect circuits like Madrid.
As such a massively detuned car is not necessarily better than one tuned up to meet the PP.
But from first with 10 seconds to spare to 8th is quite inexplicable. Almost think you downgraded the tires 2 steps.

That would also be my suspicion. You probably raced with the same car in the meantime in another series with other tyres and didn't change back to whatever you were using before (probably Racing Softs as they are allowed in the Stars & Stripes Seasonals).

Alrighty!

So I scrapped my old Viper and bought a new one, this time I barely tuned it over the benchmark of 600PP So I only had to limit it to 99.2% to be able to contend.

After my first race, which I took a commanding lead only half way through! :), I am proud to say I think I fixed the problem.

Even if it happens again, with the money I make on each race I can pay for a new Viper after only one victory. Since my last Viper made me around 4 million I don't think I'm too worried about not making my money back. Haha.

Thanks to everyone who helped and put in a good opinion!

Thanks,

-Tyler

This is a prime example of why excessive engine limiting = bad for lap times. It's always better to tune UP to a PP than down to one and keep the engine limiting to no more than 95%-100%

That's a huge detune!

Yeah I think that is what I have taken away from this. While my car still preformed well enough at almost 70% I will now be scrapping my viper after my first non-first place finish and getting a new one.

I'm just really surprised at how fast the car deteriorates.
After about 10 races around Daytona my Viper was eligible for the engine over haul and restoring the rigidity of the car.

Oh well.

Try adding weight to the car instead of dropping the HP, or balancing them both. You could also remove a bolt-on part to drop your power rather than use the limiter. Either way the car may stay successful longer.

Also... it doesn't take much to make the overhaul and restore available, but that doesn't mean your car needs it, and if you haven't put 1000s of miles on it, it doesn't really help at all.

I will try that out!
Thank you.

I used a Dodge Charger with about 15K miles on it tuned and won 15 times in a row. After that the doc had to remove my thumb. ( ) It must very between cars..
