So , ive heard the term thrown around quite a bit of times, never actually understanding what it means. Can someone clear it up for me?

Opposite lock is the term used when the driver has to steer into the opposite direction of the corner, usually in an attempt to prevent a car from spinning out. The true opposite lock situation occurs when the wheel is turned as far as it goes but often it's just a synonym of countersteering.

Opposite lock = countersteer. Yes, you use that in GT4.
