What is PD's idea of fair competition? (Shuffle racing issue)

Hi guys.

I'm sure this topic has been touched on before, but I'd like to go into more depth over what I deem as an issue. This issue as far as I've seen, rarely happens to other people, just lucky old me. Perhaps Kaz is a firm supporting fan of the FIA and ironically punishes me based on my PSN name :sly:

The problem that I've had ever since GT5 has been out, not just a recent thing here, is that in shuffle racing I am constantly given a bum deal and unfair situation with the vehicles I am prescribed.

One particularly not so fond night that I remember was a shuffle room with a "base" of 440 (IIRC), with the room being typically filled with Skyline's, Evo's, Subaru Legacy's, BMW M3's and so on. On the other hand, the game was repeatedly giving me Mazda Familia's, Starlet Glanza's, Yaris's etc. I was horribly underpowered race, after race, after race. The best car I recieved that night was a Silvia K 88, which I actually managed to win with by some miracle.

The major bug bear for me is that it is ALWAYS like this for me, every single race, every single night and I would just like to know why. It doesn't matter whether I win or lose, what the shuffle base or the ratio are set at, it is the same time after time.

Tonight in my last few races, I thought I would capture the selection of cars I was in, and the cars I was against, in a room set with a shuffle base of 500 with the ratio being at 0, 5, 7 and 10. At the bottom, I have slowed down a video of my random selection to show that I'm not just getting unlucky, but that the entire choice of vehicles I'm shown is pathetic compared to everyone else's (bar the poor sod in the Elise). It's as if my shuffle base is set to 420-440, while everyone else gets the "500" vehicles. I was host, so my car is at the top, and you'll see that I'm expected to beat GTR's, Muira's, Scuderia's, Yellow Bird's (and Ford GT's in other races).

Look back at picture 4. My Sirion has 116hp, most of the other racers have 278+hp, and the RS4 356. And in picture 5, my Pontiac Solstice which has 239hp, against an SLS AMG! That thing has over double the power and torque!
Does anybody else have this problem, or am I just incredibly lucky? :ouch:

Nail + Hammer = ???

Wow... A '05 Mustang vs a GTR Spec V?

You my friend are very unlucky.

IIRC Hayden, arent you usually the lucky one getting GTR's against our YellowBirds?

@OP: Very, Very unlucky indeed... What was the shuffle ratio at?

I shuffle a lot, and will go through streaks, periods where i get competitive cars regardless of where I placed before.

My advice is to ride it out and see what happens.

Or you can change your name to Jensen Button.

That's the fun part of shuffle races. You'll never know what you'll get. For me this is the best way to play online unless it is with friends. I personally am sick of only seeing maxed out street cars with racing softs on the track. Las time I played I had to finally give up my beloved Sports Mediums so I could stay with the leaders. Going from always last to third was a change but I hate that it had to be cheating with Racing Softs like everyone else.

So now I only try to search for shuffle races with Sports Hard or Medium limits so everyone has a fair street car race. Yes, sometimes I get the much dreaded Lotus Elise against M3's, TVR's, Audi's RS6, but sometimes I get lucky and get the Alfa Romeo 8C, or M3.

This is a great way for not to blame yourself for loosing, plus you don't feel obligated to modify your cars just to stay on top (which I personally hate doing).

I reserved that user name at the same time as making this one 👍

As for riding out the bad streak, the point that I'm trying to get to is that it is always a bad streak, never a good one, ever. The only time I'll get a reasonably competitive car is in the first shuffle race of the night. After that, the game literally goes "Aww hell naw" and demotes me to vehicles with well over 200 ponies less than everyone else's. It never seems to rectify itself, and I'm just wondering why the vehicle selection (when it flicks through your choices) seems to be 420-440, when the room is set to 500, or I'll get 360-380 shuffle base cars when the room is set to 440 and so on.

I've tried the ratio at different levels, but it's the same old story. It's fun having to get the absolute maximum out of my car just to keep up, but it starts to get somewhat disheartening when people completely disappear into the distance on a long straight.

Wow, that is pretty odd. If you keep the shuffle ratio at 0-3 this should never happen - in fact, it is impossible unless perhaps something is bugged?

Are all those screenshots of races with shuffle ratios in that low range (0-3)? If they are, I have no idea what is going on. But if you had the shuffle ratio at say, 8-10, then it could just be that you were very unlucky.

you are incredibly quick, if you can compete with that supercars in Sirion :-)

I've never had that problem! The only time I ever got any cars that could be considered under the PP value was when I won 8 in a row a week ago. But that's justifiable! You just seem to have a very poor case of luck.

I've also never raced with anyone who's had that problem, either.
