What is so special about the Dacia Sandaro according to Top Gear?

Hey dudes, im a real fan of Top Gear. But i have never really get to know what is so special about the Dacia Sandaro? Is it just because its a simple car that only got what it needs or what about it is it that they like so much?
 
You're partly there. May in particular likes simple, unpretentious cars. The main reason they mentioned it so much a few series ago though was just for comic effect, as it's not a particularly special car, so making a big deal out of it every time they read the news was just to be funny.
 
^ That. The whole "Good News" thing was them being sarcastic. Though in the Romanian Road Trip episode I think James was actually being genuine in his mini-review of it.

I always thought the execution of the joke when it was cancelled for the U.K. market was perfect.

It was definitely one of the better running jokes they've done, and until the inevitable and predictable crushing of the Sandero that May tested, they had a nice culmination to all the news jokes they did.

Incidentally, I had a look around a Sandero at the Geneva show. It's actually not too bad. Considering it's a Focus-sized car for about the price of the cheapest car on sale in the UK at the moment (around £5,500 ish) it's an incredible bargain. It's got a nice Land Rover Defender-esque crappiness/toughness compromise about it.
 
Ye i noticed by the time that they maybe were a little sarcastic :D But in the episode in rumania where they were looking for the best road in the world it actually seemed that james were serious about the car. It really seemed as he liked it :D Quote James May "I love this car, it's a happy car" :D
 
The problem with TG jokes, is you can't always be certain whether they're joking or not, much as I LOVE sarcasm (which I do) to much perfectly placed sarcasm results in disbelief to everything that's said.
I for one (oh boy :D) truly believe Michael Shumacher was the original Stig, but there's no way of knowing for sure, because of the way the show is.

I think May does genuinely like the car (he drives a Fiat Panda day-to-day - he likes simple cars), but most of TG's stuff was simply jokes!
