The 5 book "trilogy" contains the answers in a much better form than the film. READ THE BOOKS!!!
Anyway the books are much clearer on gods final message which i beleive the film does not cover at all!
Anyway as explained in a non related unfinished book by douglas adams the answer is actually 1764
 
Well I guess I'm a hollywood sell out because I've read the series a total of 10 times. :rolleyes:
 
Ah a true beleiver, I'm sorry maybe i jumped to conclusions but i hate great books being judged on mediocre movies.
Have you read his other books?
 
Well I've read: Young Zaphod Plays it Safe and some of the The Dirk Gently series. Also Salmon of Doubt.
 
I've read just about everything he ever wrote that got published in hardback, multiple times. And for what it's worth, the movie wasn't bad. Not spectacular, but solid.

Ya I rather liked the movie, first movie I've seen based on a book that was pretty close. Most of the time the story is way off.
