Less events, fuller grids, but not better racing that I have seen.
Most races lately seem just chaos with 12 or more cars, whereas with 6, or even less, you used to get some really great races. (did GT4 have it right after all ?)
So, how should PD have this set up ? Would you rather they started each race per event less frequently with 12 cars on the grid, or more frequently with 6 cars on the grid ?

I like 10-12 car races. The track feels a bit more full, and if you get caught in a tangle early on (or cause one :D ) then theres usually opponents near enough to you to make a race out of it. While 6 or less you can often find yourself time-trialing to the end of the race if you've been left behind or made a mistake early on.

eight-ten.

suzuka is a cluster when guys enter the first turn two slow. I don't think its intentional, but the slower guys really clog things up.

its not the fact that there going in to slow its the fact that its the first turn pile up you got all these guys going the same speed all bunched up together then they start hitting the brakes one after another. it happens in every race around the world and its something you will always see in racing no matter what.

6 seems perfect for me, especially if everyone is around the same skill level. Aside from that, 8 seems to be the max that works because even in a 16 person race, about 6 of them will drop out.

The more drivers there are, the more laps there should be. That would allow the field to even out a bit more, and make things tolerable. Three laps + twelve guys in Evos/R8s = puntfest.

Depends on the track IMO

Daytona 16
Suzuka/Fuji 12
Eiger Nordwand 10
London 6
High speed ring 0;)

To be honest it doesnt matter if there are 1 or 12 cars to me, as long as they know how to drive those cars, that is what is important to me.

well we already know you cant compare it to reality lol......

what i do now is back off and after about 3-4 end up in the sand, i got and capture 2nd-3rd place and then it becomes a 1-2-3 race.

It's only a problem when the ones behin come storming in hoping to use you as a brake.

^^ yea.. hopefully the penalty system is being reworked... it works when it wants to.

The more the better, for me. Although, yes, first turn is chaos with more cars...thats what makes it more enjoyable for me. As long as there are no punters, first corner is an excellent test of how well everyone can drive around each other. Its just sometimes you get unlucky with people making mistakes or punting and hitting you. Its part of racing in the end (well, not the punting, but the unlucky moments), so I just get on with it.

However, I prefer racing larger numbers of drivers because it makes the race more interesting because you can always race someone if you make a mistake, theres always some competition going on somewhere on the track, rather than with 6 or less racers, where it usually focuses on the battle for 1st or 3rd, etc. The more drivers included, the more battles happen as you go down the field.

To be honest i really think is it how you race it and how well you are. Iv seen endurance races with up to 50 cars at a time

Or try this for example. When damage is finally put into the game, first turns are gona be alot more interesting, seeing as how it might be your last.

^Oh yeah, Le Mans regularly runs 55+ car fields, although I think there should be a little bit of a limit on how many cars depending on track (Le Mans is a long track and can take this many and probably more easily, but Tsukuba would be way too small for anything more than 10), Gran Turismo isnt at the point where there will ever be too many cars.
16 cars on Suzuka isnt that bad, seeing as F1 has run with 20+ and SuperGT runs around 35 cars at once.

Online, doesn't matter. As long as the race is competitive.

Offline, as much as possible. Being put in 16th place has really made the game more challenging, especially in 5 lap races. No longer do I spend 3 laps out front doing nothing but driving. Then again, the game's AI has changed so much (imo), that even being put 8/16th can still make a challenging race.

In all honesty, i would prefer to race 4-5 good racers than race 16 clowns. Quality not quantity gentlemen 👍

^Well, yeah, obviously, but assuming once we have private rooms, we wont have "clowns". I think PD should design the races without thinking about clowns and then make the penalties to penalise them, rather than perhaps sacraficing potential great races in order to keep other races clean.

I have had the fortune to have been in a clean 16-driver race, and it was awesome, I dont want to see the potential for this disappear just because the majority spoils it.

The less assholes, the better.

I rather have an intense one on one than having a 16 "racers" grid full of punters and 4WD n00bs.

Even ignoring the problems created by lag, I have found the best races to be with 4 or 5 similarly fast cars/drivers. Even with an experienced GTP field of 10 or more drivers, the racing is compromised by the fact that 3 laps is not enough to offer the drivers at the back of the grid a fair chance. This would be changed if/when it is possible to set a higher number of laps.

I actually always let people past me at the start line. Due to number of punters in first turn at Suzuka, even if I start first, I will move off to the side of track and let everyone past me at the start of the race. I do this if there are 5+ players in the race. I usually finish 1st-3rd in races. Most people don't drive that well so I pass them anyway even if I'm dead last at the start.

I tend to always end up in last place at the start of Suzuka because my ride - the tuned Clio - is very slow off the line. Against crap or mediocre drivers this is not a problem. Against good drivers - 4 or 5 - it is also not an insurmountable problem, as I have a reasonable chance of working my way thru the field. However, against 10 or 11 good drivers it is a problem, because by the time I have worked my way thru the slower drivers, the fastest drivers will be too far ahead to catch in the remaining distance.

yes very true. Slow drivers make any race crap. Before you actually do work your way up the field to where this is some actual competition, there are not enough laps to get a good race in. Thats why i try and wing it whenever im racing and still rush into the first turn. I feel iv gotten allot better of dodging crap drivers and making it out safely.
