I've had a problem for the last few years where I just seem to sweat even if I'm not hot. It generally occurs on my feet, palms and armpits. It's starting to become really annoying. I can be sitting at home in the perfect temperature and my armpits will literally start dripping. It seem to be intermittent and only last for about 10-15 mins.

I have tried all kinds of anti-perspirants but nothing really cures it.

You're too fat, just like me. :D

Man I was sweating as hell yesterday, but it's really hot over here these days.

There are many reasons why this may happen. One of them is stress-related, another is just a predisposition to sweat, which is usually not something you develop, but something you've always had.

In the worst-case-scenario, you'd be suffering from hyperhydrosis. Which sadly, isn't curable, but it is treatable.

It can be due to weight, but since I'm trimmed down and got fitter I've noticed no difference in the amount I sweat.

It could also be stress or just generally being nervous.

It could also to be with diet, as your body will sometimes to try and sweat things out, or so I have heard.

I think you need to use Right Guard Extreme though ;)

Why do you care?

Because it doesn't feel that good to be sopping wet all the time, I'm guessing.

Mark T, the most obvious solution is to stop wearing spandex all the time.

Once you've purchased a new wardrobe, I'd talk to your doctor about the problem. There's prescription medications designed to reduce sweating (DRYSOL is one, I think) that you apply before going to bed, but I don't know how effective they are.

When I play hockey or go skating I put a little talcum powder in my skates. This kept my feet dry so 1) the skates wouldn't stink so much, 2) my feet wouldn't blister, and 3) my feet wouldn't freeze on unheated/outdoor arenas. I'm not actually sure though if the powder prevented sweating, or if it just absorbed some of it.

Hair actually dissipates the heat in your armpits. If you shave/cut the hairs you'll probably end up sweating more.

Sounds like menopause, you sure you aren't a chick?

But seriously go see your doctor, there could be underlying causes especially if its only in recent years its been happening.

it may also be the last phase of your body growing up.
I didn't stop growing till I was in my mid-20's.
Use a good anti-perspirant, as opposed to a good deodorant.
One helps keep you dry, and odor free. The other helps you not stink, even if you do sweat.

Ever considered shaving or clipping your armpit hair?

Nope never tried it. Don't really want the itching that comes with it either.

I regularly hit the gym. I'm 6ft and weigh under 13 stone. I'm toned, not and ounce of fat on me.

Last time I checked everything was in the right place.

Well I'm 23 years old so hopefully it might be something to do with growing up. I'll have to look into it.

Silly question, but have you spoken to your GP or even your pharmacist about the problem? Your GP might be able to ascertain whether or not you are suffering from hyperhidrosis, and may be able to set you on a course of treatment for your condition. Your pharmacist may be able to recommend a better anti-perspirant than what is commonly available in the supermarket.

That's my next step. Going to get a few tests done.

ooh, wow, under 13 stone means??? Maybe your body gets too hot from excess calories being burned by natural metabolism? It seems I only sweat like mad if my armpits are exposed to air, maybe your biceps are too large and your armpits aren't being squeezed enough....This is pretty weird IMO.

Sorry to drag up a month old thread but I just wanted to add that advances in medicine means that problems with sweaty pits can now be treated with Botox injections.
