That's a good post Exige! 👍 +Rep!
Just like he said, the best way is to combine sports/cardio with some muscle training. You don't want to get too skinny, that's ugly. You don't want to be fat or too muscular, it's ugly as well.
As I have overweight myself, I could share you some tips, if you're interested that is 👍 I combine muscle training and sports myself, switching it each other day. For example, on Monday, I jog. On Tuesday, some weightlifting. Sports on Wednesday and so on. Basically, I do three kind of sports in the week; jogging on Monday, cycling on Wednesday and swimming on Friday. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are the days I do weightlifting. Sunday is a free day, be sure to have it, otherwise, you'll just exhaust yourself and your body will not have the chance to get back on strength.
Do not "over-do" it! This is very important, don't go out there and push it if it's one of your first times. Begin slowly and gradually build it up. When I started (I weighed about 95 kilos back then), I jogged for 5 minutes before I ran out of breath. I now weigh 88 kilos and I can jog 10 kilometres without stopping. I cycle about 36 kilometres on a normal training day but if I want to push it a little bit and loose those few extra puonds, I sometimes do 80 kilometres. I don't swim that much as it's really exhausting, yet it's a very good training for the muscles in your shoulders 👍 I swim around 30 minutes now, if I'm pushing it 👍 It's all about practicing and keeping your body under controll
If you want to lose weight, sports is where you're interested in, don't focus on muscle training as muscles do not replace fat but will lay under or over, don't remember, the fat layers.
About dieting, not that important. Just make sure you don't take in more calories than you lose. If you do something everyday, and you don't eat hamburgers everyday, you're fine 👍 I don't really bother to count all my calories as well, I just stick with the "Don't eat too much and be sure to move your butt everyday off the couch" idea 👍
Oh and, keep yourself motivated, you don't lose pounds in days, it'll take a while but if you're really motivated, I'm pretty sure you'll get there 👍
I now weigh less than ever in the last 4 years!
Good luck!
