Ok guys im getting my Laptop back soon and I am currently running AVG Free 2010 and Comodo Firewall but I am sure that there is a much better combination than this (Also I would like the combo the include Malwarebytes which isnt compatable which AVG)!

Also I am really concerned with Rouge Anti-Virus and something that would block me going onto those fake scanners and stop it from installing is a must as I always use Google Images with is riddled with fake scanners

Please tell me the safest FREE way to fully protect my PC!

Muddy, muddy waters.

Download the trial of ZoneAlarm. After you've tried that you won't want anything else. Get rid of AVG and get on the NOD32 bandwagon. There are other alternatives, none of which I can freely discuss here. All I'm going to say is be creative and use Google.

Agree with this.👍

NOD32 seems to do the trick for me.

Cheers Shaun.

I use avast! and ie9 has better browsing protection, supposedly it's better than google chrome with working against viruses, i looked it up and there r a lot of sites giving it a thumbs up

Common sense.

However, If you really want an antivirus program, I would go with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Google Chrome is more secure than IE9.

I agree with Microsoft Security Essentials, its a surprisingly good effort by MS which is also lightweight.

Microsoft Security Essentials and the built in Windows firewall does as good or better job than any of the "free" stuff, and many of the "paid" versions as well.

About the only people who won't run it are the people who just can't bring themselves to admit that anything from MS is any good. A few years ago MS bashing was very popular among the "kiddie set" on the computer forums, for the most part, it's dissapeared, but a few die-hards never seem to grow up. :)

👍

And as a small bonus, Windows 7 seems to be a lot smoother without 3rd party "security"..

According to CNET Avast is the best free version (4.5 Stars from CNET and the USERS!!) (MSE got 4 stars on each!)
and Comodo Firewall (5 stars on latest version)
Then Malwarebytes for getting rid of all the really nasty viruses! (also 4.5 on each)

(Im very paranoid on the internet as you can tell)

how does that sound?

Check that isn't an old review, they change very quickly.

I run AVG and windows firewall and that protects me just fine. Remember a hardware firewall is 10x as good as a software one provided that it's configured correctly. Just about every internet router nowdays will have a firewall so take a look.

I'm not sure what incompatibility AVG has with Malwarebytes' as I use it on my machine. Regular scans with MBAM and superantispyware as well as regular cleanups with CCleaner (I say regular, I mean roughly once a month) keep my machine working fine. I've never had a problem with Viruses.

Remember the user is just as important as the soft/hardware you use to protect yourself. You can have all the protection in the world but as soon as you go "ooh, a Miley Cyrus sex video" *click*, then you're screwed.

If you really do want to look for celeb sex videos, then dual boot your machine with a Linux OS and use that instead. It's what I've done on my machines so I don't have to worry whenever the missus uses them!

Im thinking about dual booting into ubuntu.... anyway the reason i an concerned about viruses is because google images is infested with them when im looking for abstract wallpapers or pictures of cars and such :) and I do not look up what you are talking about, the reason im so secure is beacause I got a rogue last year from a larborghini gallardo picture on google images because it redirected me to a site saying i was infected (long story short if ubuntu dosent work then i want to as safe as possible on windows 7 ultimate!)

An Ubuntu dual boot is the easiest thing in the world to do. Just look up Wubi. Download it, run it, job done.

Comodo is great as a firewall. AVG is a bit hit or miss, but for free there won't be anything significantly better.

Exactly.
People says that Comodo Firewall is one of the best FIrewalls for Free out there!
AVG Is quite nice though, and the best you can get (and that is, not FOR FREE!!) is the NOD32 AV.

Comodo has the best firewall of all the security programs at this moment, but their anti-virus isn't the best compared to others. Comodo Firewall with a alone stand antivirus like Eset (aka NOD32), Avira, G-Data (uses alot of memory), Kaspersky, Bit Defender, F-Secure. Not sure if everything works together with Comodo. I use Kaspersky Internet Security myself. It's mainly about personal preference. I always check AV-Comparatives or on Matousec.
