I'm looking at getting a wheel for GT4 and I'm trying to get into drifting in the game but find it rather hard with the DS2. So I'm wanting to know what the drifters of this game use and recommend. Also, I was looking at getting a DF (I'm not all too wild about paying 150 :scared: for DF Pro) but is the 200* a hinderance now that the game is optimized for 900*?

If you'd really like to get a DFP, go to Buy.com Last time I looked they cost about 115$ or less there.

You don't need a wheel to drift, but having a wheel raises the level of enjoyment of GT4 as a whole. BTW, getting a wheel requires you to "relearn" a lot of your techniques. But it's very much worth it!

Indeed.

Just remember to read about other peoples' experiences if you have any trouble.

Going from 270 to 900 (LFS to GT4) was a big step.

I couldn't imagine going straight from the DS2 controller to a DFP.

Although the DFP is currently the best wheel on the market right now.

I'd say go for that.

hmmm.. I might look into getting a DFP now :) .. does it have a broader range of control? Cuz I'm use to masaging the accellerator using DS2, and that's not always easy. I'm really use to DS2 tho... but would DFP be the better way to go?

Well, I will be getting a DFP... my dad called me up and was like "hey, I just ordered a wheel from Buy.com, you'll get to use it." I was just like "eh, awesome?"

Either way, the wheel is better overall if you get a nice setup for it, like a good stand. Takes a bit to get use to though. I'm going off when I was using a DF that I borrowed from a friend. In GT4, I can see th wheel being alot more useful though...

My dad is gonna be like "Good, you can control it like you do in real life." And then he'll stop complaining about the DS2 and how its not like my actual racing. Rally should be better then, since I have a ton of experiance on gravel ;)

Yeah just got a DFP today...... fun factor is through the roof! Its soooo much fun, but drifting is hard compared to the controller, very different. Swift is right sayin that you have to learn the techniques over, I kept spinning out most of the time today tryin to drift. But man is it fun. I tried racing with the power assist off, strong force, and the wheel on simulation, and you really have to fight the wheel with its shakes and stuff. It takes the game to a whole new level. Just plain awesome 👍.

I'm using Logitech Driving Force, and it helped me a lot in drifting. It helped me from counter angle to acceleration.
