what is this??

Not being rude, just pointing out where you need to put capital letters and punctuation marks. Your grammar isn't even that bad anyway, all you need is to remember is names of things (America, Honda, Obama) require capital letters at the beginning.

Edit: Tree'd. At least I bolded the corrections! :P

You forgot to capitalize the B in Bob!!!

Also Another little rule of thumb is that you shouldn't double post (E.G. Clicking 'Post Reply' right after you've posted without anyone else posting). It is considered spam, It's best to Edit the previous post instead of making another one. I'm not trying to be a back seat moderator, but it's a little tip that helps from getting is a fuss with the Administrators any more that you have to. :scared:

On a side note to this, and forgive me if this is obvious but it's passed me by so far, is there any way one can simply delete their posts in these forums? I found myself double-posting earlier as wanted to reply to and quote two other posts, the first of which was written when I was writing my first response (sorry if that makes little sense), but I couldn't then delete one of my posts and put both quotes and responses into a single post.

Oh hey, it's no problem.

As far as I know only Moderators & Administrators can delete posts. You MAY be able to if you're one of those premium members but I'm not %100 sure. Sorry. :)

EDIT: Shouldn't this should be moved to Help or the Off-topic section?

Thanks, same goes for deleting or renaming threads. I've seen some people suggest "Thread Tools" but all I get is the option to add a poll or move it to another board. Some of the permissions seem a little odd to me compared to other forums I frequent, but I shouldn't complain (or threadjack, sorry OP!)

One word of advice, install a spell-check add on to your web browser and it'll have corrections for anything you're unsure about. I use one because I type so fast I usually make an error in every post. I also re-read ever post before I submit it so that I'm sure it's correct.

Bob does not deserve a capital B!

It is an umbrella term, meaning the word can be meant for anything, as long as it's along the lines of its specific definition. So the word bob can be capitalized or not capitalized.

Thats not fair because I have difficulty with things like grammar and spelling it discriminating its not fair :(

Unfortunately, the current era of Internet message boards, chat rooms, and of text messaging has dumbed down the populace as a whole. For many years now, people have been lazily smashing their keyboards like cavemen clubbing rabbits with the leg bone of a mastodon, and their peers have accepted their primitive communication because their peers are barbarically whacking keys just the same. Society as a whole has been content with a collective forgetting of how modern human language works; forgetting what capital letters are for, how punctuation works, how to spell anything at all, that numbers aren't a suitable replacement for letters, or the purpose behind the Enter key beyond submitting forms online.

(I'd like to note that the previous paragraph was not a "wall of text", but rather was a proper paragraph, consisting of a mere three sentences.)

If I was a teacher in school, I'd automatically score everything 0% if it looks anything like the slop posted online. I don't care what subject I'm teaching, as long as there's writing involved in some form. If it's history class and I'm grading a test with essay questions, I'll slap an "F" at the top if it looks like a monkey wrote it, even if they had the correct answers.

Why is this in the GT5 section?

OT: The GTP community is one of few online communities that appreciates proper grammar; if you were to go to other forums, chances are that they have no/loose rules regarding grammar. You are lucky to have found such a place, but need to adhere to the rules set by the AUP.

It's for the good of all of us, and more importantly, yourself.

I have trouble understanding where to put things like commas
I broke my back and missed a very long time of school
so its not that im stupid i dont understamd it ( i went to private tutors extra help after school) so i have tryed to lern but i just dont get it. :)
No one is asking for perfection in your posts, no do we punish the occasional slip-up. However almost every one of your posts to date have shown an attempt to use basic grammar.

The warning was issued because you agreed to follow the AUP when you joined and as such it would have been wise to let a member of staff know when you joined that you may have a problem (we are after all not able to read mind).

It has however been noted that you have managed to both improve you skills and lose them within a few posts in this thread. The staff will expect a notable improvement in your future posts.

I would also suggest in future that if you have a query with moderation that you contact a member of staff via PM, not make a public thread in the wrong sub-forum.

I really appreciate GTP's policy on grammar. Here we have less problems with "lazy language" than other forums.

However, sometimes it seems a bit strict, especially when those not too fluent in English get a hard time for policy violation. If one can speak English to a decipherable extent and wants to participate in this forum, I don't think they should be warded off by elitists. We can all ultimately read what they're writing, so they shouldn't be deprived of a privilege others never think twice about: involvement in this wonderful GTP community. I have no sympathy for laziness, but things should be loosened up a bit for those who are unable to speak perfect English.
I can assure you that the staff most certainly do take this into account before issuing a warning or infraction. As I have already stated we do not issue them the milli-second we see a single grammar issue (contrary to what some claim), but only when a consistent pattern occurs.

Its also worth noting that the staff have actually issued very few warnings or infraction for poor grammar and text-speak to members who have English as a second language.
