I've always wondered, and it's been this way since the early days of Forza Auction Houses, what is with most cars having extremely exorbitant prices? Why all these 250,000,000 credit A-class Prius, or the majority of the front page basic cars with prices upward 750,000,000? Who goes "Hey, let me bid 2 million credits on this pink 206 with a cheap vinyl on the side. I just saw a guy put up ten Mustang GTs for 999,999,999 advertising "free Mario designs" on the paint.

The thing is, I know people don't have 750 million credits to blow, does this stuff actually sell? The truth is, most of the auction house looks like this, and I just can't quite wrap my head around it.

I am with you man. It's the place to go if you want to bid on cars from people with really bad taste. Lots of bad paint, bad graphics, bad body kits, and extremely ridiculous prices.

WHY?!

Although I did pick up a Pagani Cinque for practically nothing and immediately got rid of the bad paint.

I just don't understand...not only how anyone possibly has 999,999,999 credits, but who pays for one auction house car with it.

I didn't play FM3 until a few weeks before FM4 came out but wasn't there a money glitch? They could have transferred over a lot of money.
But to buy one car with that kind of money is crazy. I think some people just expect someone to pay it.
In my case, credits are a bit meaningless to me. I've spent a few mil on 2 cars just go give them away free to friends. Money is so easy to come by. So if there is something I do like in the auction house and the paint or graphics arent so bad, i'll pay extra for it. But yeah, not a mil for Civic no matter how nice it may be.

My guess someone putting 999,999,999 credits as the price doesn't want to sell only to show off their work to others.

I may go along with this theory. I saw one earlier that had a price of just under a billion but it had a bunch of crap written on it, so I presumed that he was just wanting to get some sort of message across, though I never actually bothered reading what his car said.

EDIT:
My concern, if I was the one putting such a price on a car like that, would be if some glitcher bought it with "dirty" money. I wouldn't want banned.

You'll probably find that a lot of the 20 million + cars are probably going to sell to a guy who sells Forza Credits, no Idea how he gets so much, but as far as I know T10 haven't found anything wrong with what he is doing, and he makes a pretty penny from it

Saying that, I managed to pick up the DTM Mercedes for 600k last night :D

Bought a Shelby coupe tuned to R3 in the buyout option for 1.8 million.
The guy had 3 up for sale.

Seeing as the dealership wants 5 mill for it it's a bargain to me.
If I rip off the tune I've still got me a car I wanted for less than half the price.

Happy days.

I just wish they would have added a 'buyout' filter option similar to eBay to only show those entries rather than bidding, which I can't be bothered to do.

Was going to say this.
Towards my final days of Forza 3 I wanted to collect a few more cars but just didn't have the in-game money and really couldn't be bothered grinding loads more races, so I 'bought' 500,000,000 Cr for something like $25.
I simply made an arrangement with a guy to put a Fiesta Zetec on the auction house for that price, and he bought it.

This is generally how I work with the Auction House too; I am just buying the car I want, I plan on tearing the livery and tune off anyways and maybe doing my own down the line. If I do need a tune, I'd rather buy one myself then trust a random one, especially since I can't make any small adjustments.

I picked up a ridiculously ugly R390 road car the other day, but it was a massive steal, and it can always be reconverted to bone stock 👍

There are loads of great deals, but the auction house is clogged and infested with high price auctions that don't sell.

I love the deals you can get, yesterday I picked up over 6,000,000 worth of cars for under 2,000,000.:D

Although it was funny when I saw a bone stock GMC Syclone go for 23,000(sells for 12,000 in the dealership).

You can use the filters to show only low priced cars. Just start with <30,000 and go from there.👍

Well, or you look ut the cheapest buy now price, and sell it like 5000 credits lower depending on the car, that will guarante you a sell, even if its more expensive than buying the car new.

Plus there's plenty who are willing to pay more for a car that looks like it is pre-tuned or has decent paint on it. I know for me, there's always a few random bargains to be found if you're patient, but sometimes it can be hard to find lower end non-prize cars.

I've got about 10 failed auctions that say otherwise.
Time of day has a factor, P rating of the car does too.
I've had cars that were 1/2 the price as others going at the time that didn't sell but 2hrs later I doubled the price and they sold in minutes.

I have no problem paying a bit more for a tuned car from a manufacturer I have no affinity with.

Check what my own design Datsun 510 sold for !

I've sold loads with this design most nearing $1mill and I have a few other cars I designed in the same boat too.

Edit: As an avid auction house user I have noticed the decline in listings sice COD MW3 came out (coincidence?) I really hope we see more auctions appearing again.

The only other thought I had was that people dont need to sell cars for money like other Forza games as its easy to earn + Lvl 4 affinity bonus for upgrading.

I really have to wonder how stupid these glitchers are, there is one guy that has bid 999,999,999 on 2 unicorns, his club buddy has the highest bid on another.:dunce:

It's like trying to rob a police station, you have to be insanely stupid to do it.
