After i started to play GT1, i couldn't play any other racing games, cuz most of them got very few cars and the controls r unrealistic :( . Sega GT is close to the GT series, but still not as good.

Look - a 1 ass-power Peugeot 504! I wonder where the front bit is?

I'd nominate a few:
- the TOCA series
- Grand Prix 2 and 3
- Colin McRae 2 (PC)
- Grand Prix Legends (even if I've only managed half a dozen incident free laps in my entire life!).

I like to play Midnight Club and Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero, i have smuggler's run 2 also, and my bro just picked up Arctic Thunder. That's all i play for PS2 racing games. I loved the Rush Series(San Fransico Rush, Rush 2, Rush 2049)and Automobile Lamborgini on N64. NFS3: Hot Pursuit was fun for PSI, but i lost it.

Well, I have used copies of f355 challenge and sega gt

gt is somewhat disappointing and hard to get into.

f355 is kind of hard but may be more accurate.

"the F355 Challenge is probably one of the top choices. You can drive only a few tracks but it has a three screen view, manual shifting with clutch lock out and all of the assist features are optional."

"The F355 at GameWorks is Awesome. I have won on almost all the tracks but one little mistake you go from 1 to last just like the real deal. It does cost alot but with an 1hour game card your good to go racing. I hope everyone can try this game. Have fun"

Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Midnight club before GT3 came out, since only Xtreme racer

have you people forgotten about the wipeout series? sure it doesn't have real cars but all three wipeout's were rockin! and were still racing games with cars (floating cars ;)

I dont really play any other racing games, but I have played Moto-gp and I liked it. I know its not a car game, but it is a racing game.

EA's F1 2001 for PC. the game itself is pretty good, but its the mod community that makes it truly amazing!! Check out the PC gaming forum, i made a few posts about FIA GT V3, one of the best mods for F12k1. There are some nre mods out as well such as LeMans 99 and LeMans 2k1. Awesome stuff....really! Sports Car GT is kewl, with more mods then F12k1. But it's old, and just doesn't do it for me. Hmm, wut else? Ahh yes, Need For Speed. I have played all of them. Great games :D Pure fun and nothing else! If your going to check out F12k1, iw ould suggest you grab F12002, as it's got better graphics and physics. But as of right now, not as many mods. Most, if not all willbe converted from F12k1 -> F12k2. And other that are still active will have dedicated version with improved everything. F12k1 is cheaper then F12k2, so if you need to save some $$, then go for it. Still an awesome game. I'll post a screenie or 2 to get you all wet ;)

does Grand Theft Auto 3 count? it does have one of the missions labeled "Turismo" I remember playing Porsche Unleased for PC back in the day... but once I got GT2 it was over for me :)

WRC, Burnout, LM 24 Hours etc. They are all quite nice racing games. :D

Good for a quick hack up.

Oh my god, I have completely forgotten about that great game.
You are right, mate - Extreme G is really cool :)
Beats wipeout any day (well, that's my opinion)

I haven't played many of the latest generation racing games, but I have got to vote for NFS5. There is just something about the note of a Porsche engine that can't be matched. I like the lineup of historical cars as well.

wow f12002 looks pretty cool, i think i should dust off my pc steering wheel and put on my racing gloves again ;)

o yea isn't EXCITEBIKE that sidescrolling game where you could also build your own track and stuff? and if you landed badly you would kinda fall off your bike etc? i remember playing that for hours when i was 10 or summin

I've like LeMans 24 Hours. I've also tried Ridge Racer V, but didn't like it. The LeMans game is pretty nice, you might want to try it. GT is still the only one for me. :thatsodd:

I've bought or (mostly) rented quite a few racing games, but haven't found any as good as GT3. But here are a few brief, very biased impressions.

WRC: Pretty good, but it's too easy, I think, fairly short and--while it does have weather--it doesn't vary (ie, it's always raining in the same stages). This could have been a great game with a little more work.

Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero: I was going to rent it, but for $20, I bought it. I really don't see why so many love this game. It's streat racing, yeah, and the highway system is pretty big, and you get stickers, etc... But it's really heavily an arcade game with some absurd speeds, not much for real-world physics, etc. RWD cars oversteer and FWD dos plow a bit, but it's not so much real as it seems the developers going, "Look! We put understeer here and oversteer there! Whooee."

F1 2002. Got one for the PS2. It's pretty good, but I had an earlier PC version (at a massive discount) which was better. Check it out if you like F1, but preferably on the PC. The coolest thing for me is that you get all the F1 tracks and it's fairly realistic. Also, unlike even GT3, miss a breaking point and you pay for it dearly.

Ridge Racer: rented it; hated it.

CART Fury: Rented it and believe it's the most horrendous game I've ever seen.

Test Drive: Had a pretty old PC version. I wasn't impressed and haven't tried out the series since.

Need for Speed: Have the Hot Pursuit version for PC. It's arcade, but I somewhat enjoyed running from police before getting a PS2 and GT3. Haven't played it since.

Grand Prix Legends: Have been looking for it; can't find it.

Moto GP2: Yeah, motorcycles. I rented this not long ago. The replays and graphics, at first, look nice. Approaching GT3, even, but they're not quite there. There was something oddly artificial about it, I thought. But the gameplay was generally good but seemed somewhat short. I'd recommend a rental if you like motorcycles, anyway. I don't plan on buying it.

MX Freestyle. Eh. It's ok. Not knocked out by it. Maybe a rental, not a buy.

Le Mans wasn't bad - hopefully they're doing a sequel with Logitech compatability. I was quite happy with myself, finally learning the full Le Mans circuit - playing the 100 minute version with day changing into night, plus the rain, was pretty cool.
