You know that feeling. The adrenaline rush, anticipation, and excitement of getting a brand new game!! You can even remember the smell as you read this. I will share my "new game opening" ritual then I want to hear yours.
First I start out by setting at least 2 bottles of beer on the table so once it starts I wont have to get up again for a few minutes. I crank the surround sound up nice and loud. I also make sure all the blinds are shut and I give the bathroom a quick visit. As soon as I get back I take a huge drink and get prepared to open. Once I am all settled on the couch or game room I
I usually start by sticking some object in the groove where your fingers would go that way it puts a cut in the plastic. Now I just rip any covering right off including any security items. Now I imediately grab the game and put it in. usually ignoring the book until later. I always watch the opening trailer if there is one. Next I go to any of the audio and visual options to make sure they are set up for surround sound and HDTV. Following this I will see what other settings I can mess with to get the best experience from my new game. Finally I enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
Cant wait to experience all of this again tomorrow when TDU comes out. The best part is that Heather and I both will be opening ours at the same time.
