Vail, Colorado.

Home of North Americas largest ski resort.
Also has the worlds largest free public transportation system and has the worlds largest annual population change, going from approx. 40,000 residents in winter to 3,500 in spring time. Vail was at one point the training grounds for the 10th Mountain Division that was active back in WW II that saw some extensive action in the mountains of Italy.
The town has also just had it's 40th anniversary.

my town is famous for, well:

1. Muddy Waters used to live here

2. We have more bars per block than any town around

3. We made bricks to rebuild Chicago after the fire

4. That movie about the kid who becomes the pitcher for the Cubs, the beginning when they show the him playing in the little league was shot in the park in front of my house and has my house in it.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Heinz Ketchup has it's headquarters here
So does Clark (You know, Clark bars)
Steel used to run the city back in the day, although not as much anymore.
Kennywood - An amusment park that houses many historic rides

More specifically in my area outside of Pittsburgh, there are almost as many claims to fame.

Harmony: Former home of the Harmonites. They were a religious group who didn't believe in reproducing. Needless to say, they're not around anymore.
Evans City: "The City of Black Gold" I don't think there was ever much oil here, but it says that on the sign as you come in. Also, Night of the Living dead was filmed in the Evans City Cemetary, just a few miles from my house.

Well, I live in Edinburgh, which is the capital city of Scotland. It's probably most famous for its castle:

They're building a Parliament house here, which is famous for being £260m over budget.

There are two distinct sections to town: the 'Old Town' which has the Castle and the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace.

Then there's the 'New Town' which was bult in the 18th Century, and which has most of the shopping areas.

Also, I live there, which makes it pretty famous!

Was once a film made here on the estate I live in. A low budget Mike Leigh film called 'raining stones'... and really it's as bad as it looks :(
