I can’t watch the news on TV anymore – Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq Iraq, that’s all I ever hear about. Plus here at college I don’t always have access to a TV.

For the past 8 months, I’ve been using ABC’s video podcast to get my news. I liked using it for quite a while, but lately all they talk about is Iraq, Afghanistan, and politics within DC – fine, that’s part of the news, but they don’t talk about anything else. I had no clue about the World Bank scandal. Or the new breakthrough in baldness therapy. Or Yolanda King’s death. There are so many more interesting things happening in the world outside of the issues involving the “War on Terror”, but that’s all they ever talk about.

I’ve tried the NBC podcast, but all they ever talk about is New Orleans. Plus they’re liberal obnoxiousness. As is CNN.

I hate Katie Couric more than almost any other reporter on the face of the Earth, so don’t recommend CBS to me. She can suck on her own vomit for all I care.

Fox doesn’t have a good video podcast.

I’ve also tried the web thing – using RSS for Google News. However, the problem is that Google News is just an aggregator and doesn’t actually summarize the stories, so you have to click on the headline and read a long article, which I don’t want to do. Part of the appeal of TV/podcasts for me is that they summarize stories into one- or two-minute tidbits. Give me more than just a headline, but don’t give me so much that I’m going to forget all the details anyway.

So… any advice?

(Oh, and, nothing that’s audio-only – I like pictures and video.)

On the web, The BBC website, Corriere della sera, and CNN. That's all I need I guess.

I read the newspapers a lot too.

I tend to watch News Channel 4, but I barely do, considering how many hours I spend on GT4 and GTP. They like to bring up wierd stuff like, "Cell Phones give you cancer!" and "Cell Phones are killing Bees!" I love when I hear something wierd, but I'm sick of how they delay the forecast and stuff. :indiff:

I hardly watch the news or tv for that matter because:

1. Im busy reading post on GTP :D
2. Whenever i watch tv, the commercials and the news channel make me want to kill people :irked:

I usually get my news from comcast.net because my parents had set it as the homepage before they gave it to me, and I keep it because its nice to know what weird things are going on once in a while.

I get most of the stuff I talk about to friends, parents, teachers, etc. from GTP actually, there's always something new people are talking about on here.

Um, maybe I need a better thread title. I’m not just randomly asking for where people get their news (otherwise I’d post this in the Rumble Strip) – the implication is that I’m trying to get help in finding a good news source that fits my requirements, i.e., <10 minutes per day, headline news, with shortish summaries, and little concentration on the war in Iraq and domestic political bologna.

What do you mean? Do you want a tv channel because i can't help you there.

I still suggest comcast.net though. It does have video too.

No, no TV – I live in a suite with seven other guys, so TV access is sporadic.

Comcast.net is actually pretty good – the summaries they provide are perfect. I sure wish they had an RSS feed though…

How about a newspaper? Just scan the headlines and read the articles that interest you.
