Wanted to make a thread for people to post about what not to do when tuning for drifting, drag, or racing certain vehicles or certain classes/generalness of vehicles, etc.. because there's a lot of information out there on how to tune but after reading a lot and if your like me you just get confused and seem to mess up stuff more than making it right. you can also post what to do instead or pointers along with what not to do.

When posting for anything remember to RESPECT GTPLANET'S RULES!

Also, Specify whether its for Drifting, Drag racing, and regular racing

When posting for a certain car, remember to specify the exact car make, model, year, and if it is Racing Modified.

When posting for certain classes/General of vehicles be sure to put in to detail of what it is your talking about.
like cars under 1000KG or cars between 2-3000 KG shouldn't have their spring rates set this high or this low.

This is my first thread ever! and I hope this helps people, and it turns out to be a great one. If anyone has feed back on how to improve this thread please message me and I will take consideration on your opinion, :)

GT500 Cars (493hp, 1000kg FR Cars)- What NOT to do:
- At corner entry: don't brake and turn. You will lock up and lose time. Always try to brake in a straight line, and then go for the apex.
- At corner exit: be light on the throttle. Don't just slam the accelerator/button, but try to be as gradual as possible. That will give you more traction and avoid oversteer.

I think he means tunes not how to drive ;)

1- Don't chose a track you know more or less. Need to be able to repeat consecutives laps within a second , with exactly the same driving line at fast cruising speed .This is the only way to compare 2 differents settings.

2-Don't make several changes at the same time, only one by one ,at least to begin. If you change the behavior of the car the way you wanted after fixing dampers ,springs , TOE ,......all at the same time ,you'll not know what have change what.

3-You need to write everything you do on the car during the tuning process (at least when you begin) Sometime you have a good car, try a new way to let it better and you see after messing everything that it was a wrong way. Only with your notes ,you will be able to go back to the original "good" step.

4-Tune online. A good online tune will stay a good offline tune only fixing the ride height. An offline tune will never be a good online tune 70% of the time, and you will need to fix a lot of things to let it better. (Almost another new tune)

Hope this can help.

First, welcome to the forums. Now, I see what you're trying to do here, but all you're going to get is things that have already been covered in other threads by the more experienced tuners. There is alot of good information out there that is very easy to understand if you just take the time to read it. The only info you're going to get here is going to be redundant. Quite useless thread in my opinion.

Agree. What more could be learned by asking what not to do. It will just be people posting the same advice in an opposite way.

Praiano already said it... don't make more than one change at a time. End of thread.
