After the news that Alfa Romeo would be comming to the United States, and thus North America in 2007 as 2008 models, I got to thinking... What other car companies would you like to see comming to the US or Canada? GM is doing their best to get Opel and Vauxhalls to the US as Saturns, and there are still plenty of rumors that Peugot/Citroen and Renalut may eventually come here as well. Then of course there are the companies like TVR, Autobachs, vanderbrink (Carver) FIAT, Lancia, etc.

Outside of TVR, I think the company I want here the most in Renault. Their cars are pretty funky, and apparently are fun to drive according to Top Gear. The looks are great, and prices seems reasonable, but I presume the only thing stoping them is their sister company, Nissan. Too bad, I wouldn't mind seeing atlest SOME French cars come to the US (despite the fact I don't care much for the French).

...I just realised I forgot TVR... I'm soooooooooooo sorry!!!!

BTW: I allowed for multiple choise...

I'd really like to see more European cars come over, the Renaults, Citroens, Peugeots, and some of the others.

Citroen. Only for the C6. Such an awesome car.

(And Renault, Peugeot and the other stuff I voted for.)

Seat Seat Seat and Seat. Oh and Reno--aka Renault.

*edit*
Oh and I forgot to vote for Citroen.

I want the austrailan stuff!!!

And Lancia. Lancia would make me a happy guy.

I don't see why Lancia would make you happy, seeing as all they make now are realy crap econoboxes which aren't even for sale outside Italy anymore.

Unless they suddenly get of their arse and make a new Stratos or Integrale.

Also hasn't Alfa Romeo said that they were going into the us market several times before and then not done so.

Also Peroduas are complete garbage and same goes for Proton, lotus tuned suspension or not.

I guess I meant the australian Fords and GMs. I would vomit if we got infected by proton and Ssanyong... Bad images.. I just got over the nightmares the Rodius gave me.

I don't know how many there are, but presuming you're talking about the Ascari sports cars like the AZ-1, a couple have been spotted for sale in the US under Used.

TVRs are here, but 25 years is too long a wait.

Out of those, probably Peugeot. I like Peugeots, espcially, daan's 206(?) Coupe.

daan's got a 406, and Yes it's pretty. I wouldn't mind Peugeot.

Europe has to get away from their reputation as piles of crap, first. DC owner Carlos Goshn (sp) has allready announced Renault's return to the US. but he's having them do strategy to make sure they get it right this time FIRST before doing anything.

besides...thy may have to, if Ford and GM are going down the tubes...which is why SEAT and, if I remember right Skoda wouldn't sell over here.

The new Seat Leon Cupra looks fantastic, I'd get one in a heartbeat. Unless it drives like a schoolbus. Kind of how the Saturn Sky looks great, but it's all kind of downhill from there. Speaking of Sky, definitely love to have the Vauxhall VX220, or whatever they're calling it, the mid-engine one.

But actually, what I really want. Is to have Ariel become street legal instead of being a kit car.

And how could I forget, Caterham.

And maybe some of the european versions of american cars, *cough* Ford Focus ST220 *cough* I mean honestly, how can Ford rationalize giving Europe by far the best Focus, while neglecting its home country, I dont get it.

...To make some clearifications first:

- I did not include Ford AU because some of their models may be comming stateside in the near future, but being that we allready have Fords on the road, it would only be model-by-model, not the entire company.
- I did not include Holden, as it is generally the same company as Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn with the exception of the Commodore siblings. Most of the new Zeta cars will be shared between GM North America and Holden, so we will have them nonetheless.
- TVR was my mistake, and I apologise for it. But I think that is an automatic shoe in for what we want, is it not?

-----

And I'm surprised to see how many people have voted for the French companies. I'll gladly take a Renault and a Peugeot, and I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one...

Protons! The US needs more cheap cars that fall apart!

If you're wondering, I voted for Perouda, too.

Of course, of all the substandard stuff Proton puts out, the Satria GTi I actually like. Given that it's nothing more than a 90's Mirage/Lancer beefed up, stiffened up and given a mild engine job, it's still got that old "hot hatch" charm that's so lacking in the big heavy whales that pass for "hot hatches" these days.

With the way Proton's quality went down when they switched to fully Malaysian suppliers, they should just go back to the Japanese parts bin to get some quality back into their cars... heck... they should just buy a stake in Mitsubishi and rebadge them again... for old time's sake.

Peugeot. I want a 206rc.
I don't like TVR's based on GT. I hate them in the game. sorry.
The only company I'd consider here other than the makers of my 206 is Renault, but I'd never buy one, cause i'd buy the 206. so there!

I want a Clio Renault Sport 182 (I think thats the full-name). If not, the urban-hustle looks like fun as well. Yes, I did see them on Top Gear, and yes it has influenced my opinion of the cars... But, they look like fun, and atleast for the US market, they are something different. They have a fresh look, more of a quirkyness to them all, something that Toyota or Honda cannot offer with the Civic and the Corolla.

I'd be interested as well to see how Citroens would do in the US. My origional thoughts are that the cars are too quirky to work out here, looking rather odd and having some very odd options as well. But then again, look at the Civic. I would call that quirky, and it seems to be selling okay (although I hear it isnt so good).

as far as I know, ALL of the remainder of europe WAS over here. i believe i saw 50's footage of a 2CV being used in a "how many can you get into" contest...plus...I've seen an Abarth tuned Fiat 500 race mod for sale. i even called on a Triumph out my way.
