ill buy arma 2 on steam, but theres the anniversary X eddition or the complete collection.

on the anniversary edition : arma 2, british armed force, operation arrowhead, private millitary company, Arma : cold war assault, Arma : gold edittion. for 24.99$

on the complete collection : arma 2, british armed force, operation arrowhead, private millitary company, army of the czech republic for 19.99$

is cold war assault worth it ? and what's the gold eddition ?

In my opinion, you'll be better off with the Complete Edition to $19.99 (or whatever the price is). :)

Then you can come play DayZ. :D

You might be better off getting the Arma 3 beta, it's going to go up in price (if it hasn't already) and it makes Arma II redundant because it's way better in most respects, there's just not much content yet. Well, no, there's more than enough stuff to have awesome multiplayer games but the big map isn't ready yet. But if you just want it for DayZ you only need Arma II and OA. The PMC DLC adds high resolution skins too. All of the content from the other DLCs are already included, just with low res skins and textures.

So, er, yeah, complete edition.

No, if you buy it now you get the full game on release too. I picked up the Alpha on day one and got the Alpha, Beta and full game for £20, which was (hopefully) a good deal.

No, no, no! Never! Never, ever even think about buying that game, even if the game itself is improved (right now it's still a right pile of crap from what I've heard). First of all they named it to sell copies to people who mistook it for DayZ, which obviously gave DayZ a bad name, then the company started banning people all over the place and blacklisting them from other services if they requested a refund. Some developers are known to 'hack' (can you call it that if the guy hacking developed the game?) to get an advantage in public servers and reporting them gets you banned... I could go on.

And I will! They recently announced they're changing the name - a copyright dispute because of that equally awful film World War Z - and the announcement worded it so ambiguously that the rabid War Z fans assumed it was a dispute with DayZ, therefore further damaging DayZ's reputation... Also, the new name will trick people who already know that War Z is terrible into thinking it's something completely different.

Oh and I forgot to mention that they stole images from other media (games, TV, films) to promote the game. And the Steam page used to list a load of planned features as actual current features, most of which still aren't in the game (or so I've heard).

So yeah, avoid.

Absolutely certain, yes. The store page says:

Purchase Arma 3 Beta now and receive the following:
Beta-access – Be one of the first to play Arma 3 and contribute to its development.
Full Game – Join the Beta and get a Steam version of the complete game upon release.

If your just buying Arma 2 to play Day Z (personally) I'd wait for the stand alone release of Day Z. Everything is just better than the arma mod, apart from the release date which has yet to be announced (but it sounds like it should be soon).

ya i saw a video today, the maker said it sould be in a couple months, i gues 3-4maybe, i dont know i hope haha!

So I have all of those:

Arma2 = if it's for the dayZ mod, wait for the SA
If it's for Arma, get Arma3

DayZ : well worth it with all the different mods on it. DayZ origins is very cool.
But you a bit late, the SA is what everybody is waiting on and should be here soonish.

Arma3: buy it. DayZ will not work with it (maybe a modder will port it) but it's excellent Army Simulation.

WarZ or now generic: Generic Stories : don't buy it. I did and regretted it. Pvp fest, buggy as hell, worst graphics ever for a paid game. A big Scummer game... and all nemma said.
