Hi, my PS3 got the YLOD, and so ive lost all data, getting my new PS3 delivered soon, is there any point getting my old PS3 fixed so to transfer game data? As by december GT6 will be with us, should i just start over and play GT5 for a few months or go save the game data. If you know of any good reason to save data let me know, cheers

Well.... Do you have anything special within your old game data which sounds like a pain to get again (like an expensive car or something)?

Sounds like this is a decision you're going to have to make all by yourself.

Do the heat gun trick and put on new silver paste. I've always been able to turn them on for a little while to transfer data. I've never had one that didn't turn on again. I've done it about 12 times to 5 different fatties.

Well in truth I would try to get the game data, they might have some kind of bonus if your PS3 has save game from GT5 for GT6. Either way it's just fun to mess around on GT5.

I had the same thing happen to me. I'm currently working on fixing my old 60gb, in part because I'm too poor to buy a new one, and in part because I really don't want to lose my 400-odd cars, several of which are damn near impossible to get your hands on without a fair bit of luck.
