Ok, I'm at a Orlando super car show, and I can pay about the same money and drive either an:

Audi R8
Porsche 997
Lamborghini gallardo (not the superleggera)

Which will be the most fun to drive?

I have two days to decide.
Help me make my decision.
I'll post the video of which one I choose this weekend!

The Gallardo has more soul in my opinion. But if you can't drive the Gallardo, the Audi R8 is very similar in terms of running gear.

997.
"The engine is in the wrong place"

Definitely the 997.

Italics reminds me of something I stole this from someone I forgot:

"I don't know, it's like Porsche engineers are masochists or something. First it's, "Well what's the worst possible place we could put the engine?...Behind the rear axle! Ok, let's make it work." And they did, and still do. Now it's: "Right, we want to make a sportscar. But we want it to weigh 2.5 tonnes, have a very high centre of gravity and be able to tow an armoured vehicle." And they did it."

The Porsche. I often admire Porsches for their rich history, their driving dynamics and the new one don't look half bad too. Of course, if you want to just be stylish, get the Lambo or the R8. But for driving, the Porsche.

What are you really going to want:
An Audi :dunce:
A porsche :indiff:
A Lamborghini

Depends what kind of 997. A base Carrera or Carrera S won't be as exciting as the other two. If it was a Turbo, I'd still pass. Needs to be a GTx.

Then it depends if the Audi is the 5.2. If it is, then that. Else, Lambo by default.

My nephew just did this for his 21st birthday in Las Vegas. 5 laps for ~$400 I think. His choices, Aventador, 430 scuderia, R8, GTR, Z06, Gallardo, 458 Italia, Porsche turbo, etc. He chose the 458 Italia and had a blast. After watching his video I was kinda surprised how tame they keep you for that kind of $. No squeeling tires or flat out push. I would of drove it like I stole it for $400/5 laps.

That's because the instructors give you key turning/braking points for the cars & how much throttle to give. Some will improvise if they feel you're not giving it enough in the turns. They don't let you explore the full limits of the cars.

R8 or Gallardo. Essentially same car, but different approach. But, just to state the obvious, if you're in market for these, why not a GT-R? Similar price, equal/better performance and more "what the heck is that?"-factor.

If I understood the post correctly, this is a one time thing where he pays to just drive the car around a track. How many chances are you going to have in life to drive a Lamborghini? Not many.
