Ok now I think many people are aware that I do like my smilies? :D

So I was shocked today when I tried to edit my new thread in the GT3 forum and got this message:

You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.[/Quote]

Firstly there were no images in my thread..

Maybe I'am using too many smilies? :confused:
Is there a limit on them now Jordan? :forbidden:

Yes, there is a new limit of 10 smilies and/or images per post (see this thread). I know this is not a good thing for people like yourself, but unfortunately it is the result of others abusing our smilies, which as you can see, ends up hurting everyone. :(
 
I'm guessing this is because that one guy put like fifty dancing bananas on a marquee in his Sig?

No, the limit is also applied to signatures.

I can accept that people may abuse :forbidden: them so can we compromise and give a limit of 25? :cheers:

It won't delete smilies in your signature if you already have more than the new limit - you simply will run into the error message the next time you try to update your signature. The same goes with posts.

I don't want to limit smilies, but I also don't want a forum filled with spam, so I am willing to make the sacrifice. If people start behaving differently, then it is very possible that I will begin gradually increasing the limit. You can even help speed the process along if you want, by discouraging pointless posts and reporting them to moderators. :)

By the way, you don't need to edit your old posts, because the limit will not apply to those made before the limit was brought into effect.

I'm still gonna have problems when doing car :car: lists etc... Eg In the F1 :chkflag: Forum it's nice to do Qualifying lists with :bmw:, :ferrari:, :honda:, :toyota: badges and I'd use well over 10 smilies

And Jordan if there was one thing I'd complain about :gtp: this would be it, I'm sad to say I'm alittle disappointed and feel my smilie Freedom has gone? :rscared: Granted it may have been spam that forced you to do this but why should I limit my smilies because of others, what did I do?

Well that's my rant over and I would put up a final smilie but oh look I'm out of my limit! : banghead :
 
OK, since the main source of smilie abuse has been closed down, I will up the limit to 15 for now, Alex. :)

Why not give Alexy2k unlimited smilie privileges seeming he puts them to good use. I'm sure if you can give a single person moderator privileges you can give a single person unlimited smilie privileges.

If I could, I already would have, but it's simply not possible.

I can tell you that I'd love to surf this board with smilies turned off. They just look stupid.

I don't see how you could possibly use 10 smilies in a message without looking like an idiot.

Sure the way you use them isn't the way most people use the but they still aren't needed.

People were not celebrating them like you do - they were abusing them.

No - I already know what the popular opinion will be. Therefore, I will up the limit to 25.
 
Ok Jordan I'm sick to death of this :mad:

Today I did an F1 Practice Time thread, '**Ferrari Win in Suzuka?**', and I had to count and edit my smilies. This is ridiculous :shakehead

Thanks for the 25 but for crying out load :cry: take off the limit?

And Thank You for answering my questions :thumbsup: However I must defend the members who's smilies caused you to apply these restrictions :forbidden. They did do it in the Rumble Strip?

And it was hardly abuse, more playing about? No one was offended, no computers :computer: blew up :bomb: where's the problem :confused:

Now I don't know about anyone else but isn't the Rumble Strip designed for this? A place were people can just play about with smilies :spin: and fonts etc...:D

I would love to end this now but as long as you keep making me count smilies 1:D, 2:smilewink:, 3 :sun:, 4 :rscared:...:teleport: 25 I will seriously hold a grudge and remain very angry? 😈

Please Please take off that darn limit or at least extend it too 100 (so that no seriously abuse can take place like 10's of thousands)
