What the hell is going on with the PS4 competition servers?

Over the past two days, I've tried about 6 times to get into the competition server. Twice I got into the practice but was disconnected. The other 4 times, "Press Confirm To Join" then nothing. Incredibly frustrating that this isn't sorted out since I didn't buy the game intended to play unrated public lobbies with 10 person capacity just to get rammed in them.

Edit - Great. Didn't get in again. Next registration opens in 3 hours. WTF. What a waste of my time waiting for this registration nonsense.

Also, I'm in US. And do other regions have a next registration opens that says 14hrs starting around midnight?
