What to do about a problem with a moderator.

Are the posts of moderators regularly monitored? Does GTPlanet appreciate complaints from users, or do you prefer to handle things without getting users involved? I can quite understand either approach.

The problem I'm having is wasting a lot of my time (and his) going 'round and 'round because I objected to what I considered the rude and uncivil way in which he ordered about this poor French guy whose English wasn't very good and offered no help.

But that's over and well taken care of by a courteous user who stepped in and made all well. The problem is that this moderator, who shall remain nameless unless an administrator requests his name, can't handle that, leave well-enough alone, flies off the handle and becomes even more rude that anyone might criticize his methods or dare to disagree with him even in private "conversations" he instigated during which I have patiently, lightly and humorously tried to explain my position and lower the level of animosity. It occurs to me he is attempting to escalate a tiny matter long and well concluded into putting another notch on his gun and getting me banned.

But the simple matter is that someone who cannot accept or even consider criticism of his own actions, or come to any kind of understanding or agreement, should not be in a position to police others. I should think that civility is expected of moderators as well as users, and kindness and a sense of humor might be useful to us all as well.

Thank you very much for your consideration of this distasteful matter which is entirely uncharacteristic of GTPlanet, or at least of the threads that I tend to involve myself in.

Regards,

Rick

If you have an issue with a mod PM them and see if you can work things out or PM the god called Jordan.

Thank you. Problem is he keeps PMing me with the intent to do anything but work things out. If it continues I shall certainly follow your advice and submit my miserable self to the mercy of this deity.

Cheers,

Rick

Jordan rules above us all.

His word is absolute and his logic is undeniable.

Oh the witty responses I could make!! But all would be against the AUP:lol:

So I did a little looking around and found the post in question.
Please ensure all posts on GTPlanet are in English :)
While I don't know what was said in the PM's, If you consider that rude, I suggest you thicken up that skin. It was short and to the point but certainly doesn't fall anywhere near rude or uncivil.

And no, I'm not just sticking up for a fellow Mod, so don't even bother going there.

Also, regarding your question about the posting in English being a rule, I think a re-read of the AUP you agreed to when you registered might be in order. Please note the first bulleted item in particular. 👍

No-one's posts are monitored.

However, moderators' direct moderation actions are all logged.

This has already been answered, but if you have any questions about a moderator's conduct you are free to contact Jordan, the site owner, to do so. In fact, this information is contained within the site FAQ.

The problem there is "to what I considered".

As TB mentions above, a one line statement - with a smiling emoticon - is hardly the stuff that wars break out over and you seem to have taken offence to it for very little reason. And on someone else's behalf at that.

You are free to invite another member of staff into the conversation at any time.

Get your facts straight son; I forwarded you a link to the AUP to illustrate my post was in accordance with site rules, which you responded to by attempting to give me a lesson in "how to be courteous" and objecting to me enforcing the AUP. When I pointed out I was applying AUP i.e rules everybody agreed to follow when they joined (including you), you ranted on about how in today's age, nobody reads what they sign and how it was unreasonable to ask people to follow them. Which you replied to. Twice.

Also if your idea of humour is calling someone a jerk, then I guess we have different views of what constitutes humour.

As you seem to want an objective view, I have invited an Admin to the private conversation. Hopefully now you'll stop wasting my time with more PM's.
