What TV To Buy?

I just got started using my PS3 for the first time and I think I need a new TV. Mine is a nineteen year old 31" CRT. The cars and the track look ok but I can barely read the writing. I would like to get as sharp and clear a picture as I can. How big is big enough? I'm leaning against 3D since I have read that not everyone is happy with them and I hate to spend a bundle on something I might not like. Suggestions?

Thanks

1) Room size?
2) Budget?
3) Is TV going to used for PS3 mostly?
4) How close to TV are you going to sit?

You might want to at least look at a 3D TV if the price is right, then you can watch 3D movies .
If your in no hurry then try taking your PS3 to friends house and try out their TV's for the picture your looking for.

The Samsung super slim LED LCDs are hard to beat. I have two and they're awesome. The 40" model should be just right for you. You won't regret it. Oh and it is so thin you can practically put it anywhere.

Depend on your budget, and the TV's future usage.
If the TV will serve other purposes than gaming, you must find the biggest requirement of your system usage, you might end up with large screen (>40") mid-to-high end TVs
If you'll use it solely for gaming, you can narrow the selection down to entry level LCD /LED screen.

How big is big enough? that depend on your viewing distance.

I use 32" LED (entry level LG brand) for my rig. Viewing distance is about 4-ft.
Recently my friend bought panasonic 32" LCD (HD-Ready) cost him less than 300$ and its good enough for playing GT5.

Hope it helps

I've got an old Westinghouse 32" 720P LCD that I've had since...2006. I use it for my rig. My viewing distance is a few inches shy of 3 feet right now. I want it closer to my face, but I need to rig something up. None of the games I play (console) benefit from anything higher.

If you're only using it for the PS you can also use/buy a monitor...
I'm not aware of the pricing overseas but over here a monitor could save you quite a bit.

I've got my rig set up in my office. Currently the screen is about 3 feet away from my head, I could probably go up to 6 feet if necessary? Budget is not unlimited but I do want a sharp picture and a big enough screen to really enjoy the game and make it as realistic as possible. The TV or monitor will only be used for GT5 unless someday I get tired of the game and keep the monitor for my computer, I have no use for a second TV.

Thanks

Good info! So I wonder, if there much benefit in viewing a 40 inch screen at five feet over a 27" screen at three feet?

Thanks
