OK folks I'm looking for a new TV and I want the best quality for GT5 possible I like LG TVs but would it be best to get a Sony TV?? I would like it to be around 37" or 42" depending on quality of course! Budget is around £1000 (that's around $1500) anyone any recommendations? I also like the looks of LED backlit TVs and the fact they are so thin! again recommendations folks?!

i would go with a 3d tv right now
samsung has one for under 1000€ in 40"
sony will get one for around 1100€ in 40"

And as always with the TV's, go to a local store and check out a few models to see the one that accomodates you the most.
In only HD for a 1000, you will get a good Sony

I wouldnt go 3d just yet, its still a new tech and there will be better sets availabable, wait a while if you really want 3d.

I would recommend a plasma screen, i have a panasonic viera 42" and its amazing. the best HD set i ever had

I was a little hesitant to get a plasma tv at first, since I heard from several different people that they have a real bad tendency to burn into the picture, like the logo of a channel at the bottom of the screen. But the new ones don't have that problem. The plasmas are a bit cheaper. The only advantage of having a Bravia for GT5 is the fact that you can turn your PS3 on with the tv remote, that's it. Other than that it's the exact same as any other brand name tv. So, just look for any on sale and you should be set.

3D Tv don't lack in display quality in HD or SD, some have gosting or flickering in 3d in some spots/parts, but it doesn't affect Hd/Sd playback.

Plasmas have come a long way and most of the negative aspects are not true anymore, but if you want to use the Tv also as Pc monitor, go LCD, if you watch a lot of tv and Bluray go Plasma

I use our Samsung plasma sometimes as a computer screen. After a while there is some minor picture burn, but I think the tv moves the pixels around so it goes away. I know the early Plasma tv's burned so bad, that the burned in images would never go away!

To be honest, if all you want is an HDTV for GT5 you don't even need to spend half that.

Here's a Freesat HD compatible LG for £499, here's a Freeview HD compatible Sony (with their superb Internet Video) for £569, and here's a Panasonic Viera with uh... neither of those things. All perfectly good TVs with Full HD for about half your budget.

If you're desperate for LED, though, here's a Sony for £799 that does everything you could ever want. Although to be honest I can't see much point in a wafer-thin tv - if you're then putting it on the same stand as a PS3, Sky Box, DVD player or whatever it might as well be exactly the same depth as them.

...and 3D is for people who look at Emmerdale and think 'hmmm, needs more KAPOW'. And I don't like those people. Buy a decent sized HD set, spend some of the remaining cash on a reasonable receiever/speaker package and you'll enjoy TV so much that you won't even care that you're not wearing a pair of stupid glasses. Done.

The only advantage of having a Bravia for GT5 is the fact that you can turn your PS3 on with the tv remote, that's it. Other than that it's the exact same as any other brand name tv. So, just look for any on sale and you should be set.

It's all preference to be honest. I for example no longer trust Samsung, as I've bought 2 different Blu Ray players from them that have either refused to work properly or have been sold with fibbing spec sheets - you just get the feeling that they've chucked them out of the factory as quickly as possible. By comparison the Sony one I've replaced them with is wonderful - infinitely reliable, a million times quicker to use and it actually has the features it was sold as having. So I'd gladly pay 10% more to have another one over a Samsung. Someone else who's had nothing but excellent Samsung products would probably just buy another one, but there we go.

You can get a viera with freesat, mine has it.

You can indeed, in fact I think Panasonic were the first company to adopt it. Incidentally you can also get a Viera (or an LG) with Freeview HD, and I believe Sony will sell you a Freesat set and bundle the installation with it for free.

ok thanks guys - I was previously thinking about what Jondot said a nice 42" LCD tv (which in all honesty will only be used for GT5/watching a few movies through the HDMI cable on my PC) with a nice surround sound kit to make GT5 bang a little more :D cheers for all the info guys I guess the best thing is to go to the store and check which one looks "best"

You'll get a better picture on that size screen if you go plasma. If i see any screen burn ( usually after leaving it on the xmb or something) i put on some white noise and it clears it up.
